I'm totally bushed... 950 miles round trip in 26+ hours. Dodging severe thunderstorms, tornados and hail.... not totally successfully I might add... my windshield is now broken

Anyhow the upshot is the tremendous hospitality Sal, his wife and the Golden CO gang afforded my visit. I had an absolutely great time... saw many fantastic things (mums the word still), enjoyed discussions on a wide variety of topics, was blown away by Owen's folders (He's a South African maker that has recently relocated to Golden and is now part of Sal's "family".. great guy by the way.) And yes, many hugs were delivered to Danelle on behalf of the forumites

.

The engraved BFC Native is absolutely a knock out as is the new Starmate. I acquired a serial numbered flavor of the C55, a Zowanda damascus C01, and a host of other goodies sufficient to dent my plastic for a bit

I'm tired so I'm signing off for now... I should list all the folks but I'm afraid I'll miss someone while I'm punchy. Again, needless to repeat, the Spydie gang is a great deal of fun to be with. Just wish I could have spent more time. But I'll be back.....

I did NOT escape from the institution! They gave me a day pass!

Just getting in myself..of course had to go out to dinner after this day..I wasn't about to come home and cook! Whew! What time did I get there? I think my clock said 6:25..(thats AM!)

It was so good to meet Bob, fun to meet those you talk to from afar sometimes! He and Sal completely hit it off, Sal would start showing Bob some trick or technique and a crowd would form like Sal was David Copperfield. Owen was very gracious to all the customers, taking many back to his custom shop, what a treat!

The whole crew ran on overdrive all day. It was teamwork at it's finest.

All in all it was a great day, many friends were made, and a couple of sales too.

'night!
Danelle

Bob - Thanx for comin' down. Gail and I just got in ourselves. Glad you got home OK. sorry 'bout the broken windshield (they call that a Colorado windshield 'round here). Sleep well.

Bob,

You lucky dog, I was thinking about you and the others at the sale yesterday. Sometimes living in the antipodes has its disadvantages

. Sounds as though you got some nice new toys, sorry about the hail though. I cringe everytime I hear the word, my memories of our storm are still too vivid.

Take care,
Clay

Don't worry that the world might end tomorrow....in Australia it's tomorrow already.

Bob,

Sounds like a great trip. What matter 950 miles and a broken windshield if you found some great toys and friends?

Glad you had a safe trip Bob! Enjoy the Colorado Windshield! We all have them after being in Colorado a week.

Fish (John),

How was the LaMaze class

? Sorry I didn't get a chance to meet you. Perhaps next time!

Whew! 1st baby for me (she is due 07/13)... it was a long and interesting class. But (making sure Momma is not hovering close), I would have rather been looking at knives! Next time Bob, beef and brew on me. Come on down!

Zowada damascus C01? WOW! Plain blade, I'm presuming?

Sal or Danelle, any more of these morsels lurking about?

Ron,

The Zowanda damascus C01 "Worker" is fully serrated and sharp as heck. I bloodied myself on mine so you know it's a keeper

!

Fish,

You're on! We can definately swap rounds keeping a dedicated driver straight up to ferry us out of there. Mid-July isn't all that far off... whew, memories. I did that route twice with my wife but she always cheated and went from 4 to 10 so fast that I usually had only enough time to put on scrubs, lift her shoulders, say push once and pronounce before the doctor that I had a son (again).

Danelle,

My bud Greg Mete made out too. He ended up with a Starmate, Zowanda C01 and the new Sharpmaker out of the stuff I bought. I knew I should have bought more of the Sharpmakers... next trip down I'll fix that. Still gotta get one for #1 son. Unfortunately the items Gene Sederholm asked me to look out for weren't available. But both the guys were quite happy that I had offered to look out for them. One in Alaska, the other in northern California, have no real opportunity to make it to Golden, so I thought it only fair.

Get my windshield fixed tommorrow... $267 + tax seems reasonable although I would have much preferred not having had the problem in the first place. Geez! A "Colorado windshield"... what a tourist prize that was

! I trust they only come one to a customer... yeah I wish

Hey....I want to thank my buddy Bob Allman for looking out for me! THANKS BOB! I anxiously await the care package from the great state of South Dakota to get to the emerald island of Kodiak!

Bob has been watching out for me for months and it is much appreciated!

Thanks again, Bob!

Bob, glad you made it home safe! I'll trade a "Colorado Windshield" any day for a Dakota Prarie Dog, damn things run under the wheels of my Hog causing major rear end vacuum to stay upright. Better than Nebraska bees (a whole 'nother story). Shout next time you're down here, better yet get TDY to Petersen Field, I work fairly close. Going up to Golden on the 11th for Graduation, another class of Troopers going to hit the road. You know I HAVE to stop by the store. Danelle I have something for you!
