Trip to Thailand...knives to buy??

Hello,

A well traveled family member of mine is going to Thailand for almost a month.

First question is there anything I special I should tell them to look for? You know a blade/style they are known for??

Also any advice on where they should look?

She is not a knife person, so I'm basically just trying to make sure she doesn't spend my money on
something that is all show and no go(ie tourist crap).

Aranyik knives are pretty good knives. Not too expensive and they come with pretty rough looking leather sheaths but they're 5160 steel and really tough. They've got hunting knives, rambo looking knives, "survival knives", khukris, machetes, swords, scythes and other stuff like that.They can be found all across Thailand but the greatest selection I saw when I was last there was at JJ market in Bangkok. It's also called Chatuchak market. Cool place but I hear that tourists get ripped off and pickpockets prey on foreigners there. Hope I helped.

There was a very similar thread like this a few months back with excellent suggestions. Id link it but Im on Iphone, just search Thailand, should pop up. I got family that moved there, visit often. Fun.
