That's the Upper Pennisula of Michigan. It's a totally different place than the lower. It's definetly God's country.

He is an out crop to make a nice little shelter. I found this way off a path, but has been used recently.

It had a plastic box as kind of a time capsule hidden in the back. Pretty cool.

Great pics. Had no clue that part of the lakeside looked like that.

And wow... crowded cliff-jumping. Less people waiting around, more people diving!

Great pics! Nice. That tree looks like a walking palm in the jungle

What does it say in the water? Someone left something using stones but can't quite make it out.

great photos. I'm a wisconsinite myself but I've spent alot of time in Door County and some in the UP, brings me back to the good old days. Most of door county looks just like
that, 20 foot rock walls going into limestone tinted water, and the sunsets are always gorgeous. It's one of the few places in that part of the country where you can get away from the monotony of cornfields and trees. Right after I graduated high school my dad and i biked around door county and took a ferry to Washington Island, biked around that and biked home.

Awesome photos! I hang in lower Michigan which has its little jewels like Waterloo State Rec area, but every once in a while I drive to the UP ----often continuing on into Canada north of Superior. Thanks for posting your wonderful pictures!

Nice pics of the UP! I am in the "mitten" myself. We often drive through the UP on the way to Canada, but looking forward to exploring some of the Lake Superior lakeshore in the coming years.

That box looks like a "letterboxing" box. Kind of a low tech version of geocacheing. More info is at letterboxing.org

I don't usually post here, but recently picked up a RAT Izula, and am looking forward to trying it out.

Looks like a very nice place to visit. I wish we had nice enough weather this far up north for some swiming.

Great pics! I worked on Mackinac Island for a summer when I was in high school. I happened to be up in the UP this past weekend as well, for the Bark River Grind-In. I snapped a few shots of the bridge but didn't have enough time to do much exploring so your pictures are appreciated!

Cool pics, thanks for sharing. I find the letters in the water rather interesting. Very cool.
