I had three finish up at once.
I recall reading somewhere that 1/3 of the time spent on a project is just looking for tools. That would be great if I only spent a 1/3 of my time looking or setting up so I tend to work on more than one at once. These have to be similar or there isn't any efficiencies - for me anyway.
All are ATS-34 treated by Paul Bos and stabilized wood by WSSI. Each has its own color liner. All are pinned with 303. I need to make sure I use 416ss pins on the next batch so they blend in on the bolster a little better. This seems to bother some people if the pins in the bolsters are visible. The bottom knife bolsters are nickel-silver. This stuff is a dream to hand sand/polish but scratches by just looking at it hard.
The top blade is sabre ground, the bottom two are hollow ground.
The scales from top to bottom: Maple burl with some spalting - I wish I had more of this. Really dramtic figuring with strong colors. The middle is Amboyna burl. I like the rich color more than the figuring of this wood. I'm getting more of this to play with from the Lumber Lady. The bottom is black ash burl. I find the figuring attractive but a bit too mottled for my taste and will probably avoid it in the future.
