Hello all....

I am curious if anyone has any input on making, using, or the procurement of tritium gadgetry. I am thinking about ordering some vials and would like to know if anyone else has done so, or if they have purchased any tritium "goodies" and what your experience has been? I am considering purchasing already made beads or "lanterns", but I have not completely ruled out making my own reciptacles.

Thanks for looking and your input!

Toby at Berlin Tiworks

Have you purchased anything already containing tritium or just the "container" without the tritium vial?

I have seen some Berlin Tiworks items for sale here and there, but I did a Google search and could not find a website.

I am sorry, I didn't see the second part of your question. I purchased two of his bead bombs. They are great. They already have the tritium in them. I have never purchased loose tritium if you will. I believe the sale or importation of them is restricted. I don't know if you have ever seen it in person. They are cool, not really a source of light in the dark to help you see other than to help something stand out in the dark. Not very bright. Some colors are brighter than others. I am no expert by any means, so make sure you ask whatever source you choose any questions you might have. Good luck.

There are threads dedicated to beads, as well as Facebook pages that are good ways to find good designs.

To be honest, not really a Facebook person lol. I will check there to see what I can find though.

Did you make your purchase directly from him or did you pick them up off of the exchange or a forum?

I have seen tritium night sights, but I haven't seen anything else containing tritium in person.

I really wasn't either. Other than that knives and related accessories, I don't use it for anything else. But a lot of the makers and collectors seem to be embracing it. So I find myself using it more and more. I purchased directly from him near the end of next year. Transaction was great. Don't know him personally.

I own a few tritium products. Two key ring lanterns or "glow worms" as some call them. And a watch with 17 tiny blue and orange vials in it. One lantern came empty, and was able to order a blue tritium vial from Amazon. (35.00 I think) Out of the three colors I own (blue, orange, green) The green is brightest, followed by blue. Orange is harder to see. I'll pick up right away on the 1-11 markers on my watch (blue) but the hands and 12 marker are orange and take my eyes a sec to adjust.

I checked out Berlin TiWorks. I contacted him through Facebook and I am waiting on a response to see if he has anything I want on hand. Some cool looking items.

802-303 how was your amazon experience and how long did it take for you to receive your order? Where did you get your lantern from and how difficult was it to get the right size vial to put in it?

Thanks for the input guys. I appreciate it.

All the sellers on Amazon seemed to be overseas. The seller I ordered from isn't available anymore, but it shipped from Germany or Ukraine (can't remember) It took just under a month to get it. Came shipped in a standard padded envelope, in a small plastic case. Most vials are 22.5 and most lanterns are made to that size. (I've only seen smaller ones 12.5, I think) Once I got the vial it slid right in, and a quick dab of clear epoxy sealed the opening.

Cool thing was I had axcess to a Geiger counter, and my watch made the needle flicker. But the lantern gave off enough to make it hold off its resting post... No where near enough to cause health issues, but cool to know my keys are radioactive now..... (Wonder what airlines think......)

I placed an order for a few vials of ice blue and green with Bart via B@rt's Tritium thread over on candlepowerforums. I don't know if I will order a lantern to put them in, or if I am going to try my hand at making/using them in some other fashion. My main goal for ordering from him was to see if there will be any issues with the vials getting to me. If I can get them in consistently, I plan to use them in some form or fashion to accentuate something I already have, or plan to make.

I also placed and order with Toby @ Berlin TiWorks this morning. l have a beadbomb on the way with green vials installed.

I appreciate the help and info! Thanks :D

Keep us updated. I wish he still had the spheres available, I've never seen them. Now I find myself shopping around, I don't need to buy anymore expensive toys...... This weekend.

I have ordered all sizes and shapes of trit vials several times here on BFs, but it was years ago. And I do believe it is regulated and it was not from CONUS.
I use them in all kinds of projects...
Key chains made from bass wood, acrylic pen blanks, I have inlaid them into knife handles, pistol grips and also jewelry for my GFs (saves so much $), etc.
Clear epoxy seals them but you still have to be careful because they can be fragile after plenty of use.

Berlin TiWorks is a member here and sells things on the Exchange here. From what I have seen, he makes products in batches (makes sense) and usually announces upcoming products. There is also Ti Survival also makes all kinds of stuff, check them out (they are also a member here).

HuntBomb... Do they become fragile because the plastic (or whatever it is) that contains them becomes brittle from age?

RevDevil... I am still waiting to hear from Toby that he has shipped my order I placed with him. I will keep an eye out on the exchange for items posted. I also checked out the Ti Survival website. I will more than likely end up ordering one of the lanterns they have listed and probably a bead or two as well. Thanks for the heads up.

I can answer that for ya, the tubes are glass. When people install them in knifes/flashlights/etc. The epoxy adds a buffer to protect against direct impact. I keep one on my keychain, in a titanium lantern. And the keys have been known to take flight across the table, or the standard 3+ foot waist drop. All good so far. The one in my flashlight did great for years. Unfortunately, the epoxy puck holding it in got knocked loose, and the tritium tube went with it.

I received my 2 blue and 2 green vials that I ordered from Bart over at candlepowerforums.

I also received my beadbomb that I ordered from Toby at Berlin Ti Works. The beadbomb is awesome!

The trit vials that I ordered are super tiny lol. I don't know what I am going to do with them yet. They made it to me in a somewhat timely fashion. Now knowing that I can get them, I am seriously thinking about place a more expensive order for some larger vials.

Not making any promises, as I have been super busy lately, but I will try to post up some pics when I get a moment.

Thanks for all the help and input guys!

Sorry this took so long. I am always busy and my ADD helps so much! I am also terrible with time management to boot lol!

I have recently ordered another Beadbomb in blue from Toby @ BerlinTiworks. Great guy to deal with! Waiting to order some more trit vials before I purchase a lantern from TiSurvival.
