TRM Neutron 2 Lock-Up Question

I have a new Neutron 2, and would be interested in whether the lock-up is normal. No vertical or horizontal blade-play when open, but it locks up very early. About 50% of the liner (which is thing to begin with) is on the blade tang when open. In contrast, my Rat 2 locks up at 50% - the liner is in the middle to the tang.

I don't use the knife in a way where I would intentionally put pressure on the spine of the blade, but would not want the knife to close accidentally should something happen. I don't want to start a debate about early v. late lock-up. Just curious if this is how it is on other Neutron 2's.

My Atom is about the same. I'll let you know about the Neutron on Monday when it arrives ;)
 
JoWa - Thanks. I e-mailed TRM with some scans, and they were very helpful and said that it was within tolerance. Said that they shoot for 20-50%, and looking at my knife, it is right around 20%. It's a little deceptive as the blade stock is thin (which make the knife great), so it looks early. Very nice knife. Action is smooth and the blade very sharp out of the box, and perfectly centered. Good luck with yours!
 
Hilary and Marianne over at TRM are GREAT to deal with. Always provide detailed information and actively working to make their customers happy.
Sometimes you don't even have to ask! I placed two orders with them yesterday (the Neutron 2 and a set of R&D scales for the Atom that they offered me through their FB group). At the end of the day I got an email from Paypal telling me that Hilary had combined the orders and refunded me the shipping costs for the scales.

Definitely a company that's getting it right!

Neutron drop a couple of days ago. Another one in a couple of weeks.
