I recently received an email from the troll we've known as BuraFan. He stated that after contacting Uncle Bill he'd been advised to contact me

He was concerned that someone on the forum might find his address and do something.

( Note that he was unable to delete this info as the threads had been locked. )

He requested that information about him be removed. I did just that, but did not reply to him until much later. The reason for this is I had not kept the relevant threads noted. Thus I had to seach about 50 threads before finding them.

Once found, I did what he requested and responded to him by email, ( using his middle name and area code which had not been available on the forum ).

I also informed him that if he did as agreed, to contact Mr. Martino or myself after June first about possibly permitting the ban to be lifted, but noted due to his permanent ban status it would be up to the BF administrators as well as us.

I hope that others will be satisfied with the action taken and allowing him some hope for the future. He sounded sincere, and I hope by the time June 1st arrives I will also be sincere in my reconsideration of his posting privileges.
 
It does not sound as if the subject of other Bura Fan identities is resolved. You may not have to re-instate Bura Fan, he may already be here. That 'sincerity' is of more importance than his worry that someone would use his address negatively.



Other than that, I don't know what to say. I wish he'd listened and hope he seeks help.

Ahh the internet, a place for the powerless to make themselves feel powerful, but once the anonymity is gone they are powerless again. You would have thought that he would have remembered disclosing his whole name and address right onto the public forum, especially on a thread that is regarding a blade form that is probably one of the more commonly searched for :rolleyes:

But since I dont believe for half a second that our little *friend* will leave this sight alone, dont "lose" his adress to well k? I might wanna go for a little drive and talk to his wife about his attitude. I think that might open his eyes a bit...
 
Is he sincere? I think not. More worried about getting his arse kicked.

I agree with Semp!!!! And not to fear as I, and a couple of others,
-have- his address and -mean- to keep it just in case it is needed in the future if -Anyone- needs it.

He shouldn't have been so stupid as to post it in a public forum just the same as he shouldn't have been so stupid to keep coming back.:rolleyes:
I see where he is on another forum, let him stay there.:grumpy:
 
Ah, I believe the mighty Semp to be correct. The post may have been deleted but perhaps there are those around who may have saved the post. :confused:

Thumbs up for your evenhanded methods. Thumbs down to the unrepentant BF. I'd say ban him for life.

And of course Munk brings up another point too. What if he's already here?
 
Without any sarcasm at all, I think he needs treatment, meds, and a course of behavior modification with supervision.

He does not need a forum, nor an audience.

Rusty...you have many talents...but I know this stretched you to a limit. Thank you.
 
Yvsa, for my own personal interest, what forum is he now hagging at, and whats his handle. I'll make darn sure I dont go to that forum.
 
Replace "stretched to a limit" with "engaged set trigger".

It's not any of the BladeForums (or KnifeForums forums that I've seen) so I imagine you're safe. He's easy to spot anyway so you won't miss him if you should happen to visit other knife forums.
I do aim to warn the moderator there though. He just happens to be a friend of ours.:D

He's not gone. He still has a "sleeper" account or two still around, sahib. We know enough about him to deal with the situations as they arise. My set-trigger's engaged too. Meanwhile Rusty, I'll abide whatever decision you make.

What it really boiled down to was that Uncle Bill deferred it's resolution to me.

That meant I had to distance myself and deliver a Solomonic just and fair decision if I wanted to continue feeling I was half-way fit to stand in for Uncle.

Don't you just hate situations like that?
 
I wasn't around for this particular troll but I was around for a different one....

If Burafan hadn't displayed such terrible behavior to begin with, he wouldn't be worried about reprisal at this point. If you decide to let him come back (not that he's not already here under another name) I think you should force him to register using his real name so we all know who he is. How many chances does this loser need?
