There is a no engines reservoir near here. I need a trolling motor for a canoe. Who makes the best ones?

Before I got into kayak fishing, I used the same minnkota for about 12 years. Never had a problem out of it except the 150+ yards of line my buddy wound up and melted it in. It was still going strong when I sold the boat

I would paddle you around Andy if I could get free knives forever!!
Sorry :D, this is no help at all I'm sure. o_O

I've done a little kayak fishing and thought about putting a solo canoe rig together.

Make sure you get the right kind of battery and find some forum that discusses how to keep it optimally charged.

I'd also focus on ways to keep the canoe stable. One strategy is to lower the seat, another is some sort of outrigger setup.

There are also several ways to mount the motor.

Make us proud and share some pictures

Andy, your canoe has a transom, right? While I do like Tony's idea and think it would make for a great stand alone thread, look into the Minn Kota Endura and Traxxis lines. you could easily enough build a battery box to hang on the opposite side to keep everything out of the way and don't forget to get a foot pedal. When are we going fishing Fiddleback Fiddleback ?

OK. What I have is the Gheenoe that Dink and I fixed up a few years back. There is a thread with pics. Its the 13' model. My friend found it sunk in the river. It was literally torn in half down the middle. LOL. Dink and I (mostly dink) re-fiberglassed it. And it has just sat around. Now that I am getting back into fishing, there is a reservoir nearby that is electric motor only. Nice and quiet. This boat is perfect. So I bought a trailer for it yesterday. I'm getting stoked.

This is the trailer.

Hannah did a quick cleaning, and I padded the front spot where the bow touches the trailer.

Its a cool boat. Very stable. We have a two horse outboard for it. A sweet old two cylinder that you pour gas into from a can. Today I'm going to get a trolling motor. Woot!

Added motor which we already had, new trolling motor, and seats.
