Knew that Eric had planned an info chat this evening. Just got home and tried to login to the BB. No dice. Says it can't find swampratknifeworks.com. :grumpy:

Anyone else having problems?

Ah, crap. Tried a few other sites and I have the same problem. Connection's up because I get here.

Anyone know the dotted quad for SRKW so that I can skip my services name server?

I don't know what that means otherwise I'd help. I'm over there right now and it seems to be working fine.

My problem seems to be with the Nameserver through Charter. Everytime I look for a page not already in my browser cache, the Nameserver has to translate that into a "dotted quad" (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx the numbers you see when you set up your own net). Every site has one. I never before needed or bothered to use the quad, and now I'm SOL unless Charter's nameserver comes back up or someone comes through with the SRKW quad.

Normally, I could look this up on a IP site list, but I don't know that quad either.

Boo.

Thanks for checking in, Eric.

Tell me how I can look this up and I'll try and help

If you Google "IP lookup", there should be a link to a site that will let you enter either the name (eg www.swamprat.com) or the dotted quad. It will typically return both the name and quad (or, at least, the opposite of what you entered).

I figure I can bypass the nameserver and link directly to the BB.

I guess it's worth a try :)

Woohoo! Thanks, Eric! :D :D :D :D :D

Got in, I'm reading the stuff I've missed in a second window. Unfortunately, every time I want a new page, I've gotta type in the address, subbing the dotted quad for the name.

Haven't tried to post yet. May end up lurking. :( :( :(

Can't get around the Login page on SRKW...guess I'll just post my thoughts/questions here and look for answers there? :(

1. Regarding production schedules. Is there any way to know what runs will be coming up? Sort of like the current Busse production being the only knife listed on the Knives page. That way I could time orders to approximate when the production will occur?

2. Can/will SRKW satin finish blades if they are sent back in (like some folk have done with their older Busses--send it in for sharpening, chip in extra greenbacks and go from black crinkle to satin)

3. Will knives that you all bring to Blade be just protos, or will standard run knives (or new knive/limited knives) be for sale?

Just a few off the top of my head.

Hello to all!

I'm about to sign off for the night but I'll be glad to answer those questions over here in the morning. Post more if you've got them and I'll be back. Sorry but it's been a long day for me.

Hello to all!

I'll do my best to answer your questions now.

1) Not really an easy answer to this one. We usually do several batches at once and so we continually are working on the knives, in several stages. The best thing to do is to place your order for what you want, or everything you want. Since we don't charge you until your order is preparing to ship, your order will be filled as soon as we have that knife in stock. Then you don't chance missing it.

2)We generally do not do this as it requires us to cut the handles off and would be quite expensive and time consuming. At this time it is not a cost-effective option for us to offer.

3)We generally try to bring some knives that are for sale, and also prototypes of new knives. For example, last year we had just introduced the Safari Skinner, but we had a lot there to sale.

I hope that helps

Good morning, Eric, and thanks for the replies.

I guess I'll bug Ian about his customizer in OZ. ;)
