I bought some awesome AWT anodized scales for my Spyderco Bodacious. AWT scales are liner delete on the clip side. Trouble is I can't get the liner off. I'm having trouble separating from the blade stop pin and the pivot. Any suggestions? Sorry I'm a newb at changing scales.

I haven't tried on a bodacious but my inclination would be to get a rod the size of the pivot or smaller and use it to tap the pivot down and out of the liner, then the liner should come off of the stop pin.

Thanks. Sounds reasonable.

A local guy also suggested a hair dryer to loosen any loctite that may be in there. Good idea?

Well loctite is used on screws and you have it unscrewed already. Plus heat causes metal to expand so that could be counterproductive by making them fit even tighter

The parts are very closely machined and the fit is precise. Careful prying with wood or something less hard that the steel used in the scale will work. How do I know? I just replaced the scales on two Bodacious’ just the other day.

Thanks y'all. Prying helped separate the unused liner from the pivot screw. Then heated water and banging on a paper towel on a hard surface got the stop pin out (probably not recommended). I also got some good advice and service from AWT directly (prying).

Overall, very happy with the new scales (cast iron). Excellent upgrade.
