Trouble choosing a knife

I've got alot of pocket knives mostly traditional but a few tactical ones as well. The problem I'm having is I can't find a knife that's truly comfortable without being heavy. I have big old farmer's hands and I haven't been able to find a knife that meets the comfort requirements but isn't too heavy since the 70s when I had a German made premier cattle knife I'd bought at my aunt's diner/store.
Would anyone of you learned gents have any suggestions.
Thanks

What do you consider heavy?

What blade length do you prefer?

What's your budget?

:)

Of course, knowing more information as requested above would help, but If comfort is your first and foremost requirement, I would look at Becker Knives. They are by far, the most comfortable handle ergonomics I have ever felt on a production knife. This is assuming you are looking for a fixed blade knife.

They have many different models, and all of them are relatively affordable.

I like two bladed jacks or even a trapper. I find the buck 301 a little heavy for pocket carry. My hands are large and the old arthritis is not helping any. The price range would be below $100 if possible.

I like LoomFixers a lot.

LoomFixers are big pocket knives, but they have such a graceful shape that they are easy to pocket carry.

The handle shape is perfect for someone with arthritis.

The main blade is a sheepsfoot, the secondary is a large pen blade. Both are extremely useful shapes that compliment the knife on my belt.

The Spyderco Military and the Native Chief are both big, but also light and extremely ergonomical.

a rat1 by ontario is quite large - amazing 5" handle with great ergonomics and only around $55 for aus8 steel, a bit more for the d2 (but under 100)

that large hand size does translate to about 5oz but it doesn't feel heavy at all

Technically, a cattle knife has rounded ends. The $100 budget eliminates current quality from Germany.

You will probably end up looking at a US made Case trapper. They come in three sizes. In fact, when you go to the local hardware store, you will find cheap american made trappers made by one conglomerate in the US under a variety of names. They will run under $20. You will get a Case knife in the size you want for well under $100. Look up the Case catalog.

Bottom line, situation dictates the knife or knives. That's why I own several different folders. Of those I own my Coldsteel ultimate hunter is my favorite "do all" knife and I have between 2-3 xl hands. I also own a K390 Endura and the 2nd Gen Adamas. Just my opinion.

Oof. The Buck 301 weighs 2.9 oz and that is heavy huh? You aren't going to find many knives under that weight. You will have to lose the 2nd blade I would think for sure.

I linked some items from Bhq for easy reference.

Buck 110 slim pro. Upgraded steel and nice handle material. Saves .1 oz. Nail nick probably not ideal for arthritic hands.

VG10 isn't bad. Many of my Spydercos around this price range has it. Weight is only 1.92 oz. It does have a flipper which should be easier to deploy.

14C28 is one of the better budget steel. Again, you save about .3 oz.

I love the Spyderco Endura but that weighs about an oz more then the Buck 301.

Do you normally wear a belt? Have you considered a pouch on your belt to hold a knife?

This maybe a little different from the mainstream folding knives suggestions, but what about a Svord large Friction folder?

It's really light weight(under 1oz), large 5"+ handle, with scanvik 12C27 steel which is not too shabby and a great value for under 25-30usd?

How about this one??

Esse Zancudo. I haven’t handled one but that handle style with a narrow neck tends to be the most comfortable for prolonged use.
Thin blade, framelock, lightweight, under $40. :)

For $29.00 above your budget you could have a Böker Tree Brand made in Solingen, Germany. It’s 3 3/4” folded, with a 2 7/8” blade, and weighs a whopping 2.8 ounces. It’s a Jens Anso design and one of my favorites. Everything about it exudes quality.

Either way, good luck in your search.
