Trouble deciding on which larger EDC

I'm bouncing all over trying to decide what to buy. To the point, does anyone have and like the Benchmade Boost combo edge?

I'd avoid the boost. The rubber grip that Benchmade used in that time period doesn't seem to hold up well in comparison to other materials. The Barrage might be a better choice for you.

I am not a huge assisted knife fan but if you want to look in the same Benchmade family I have and really like both the 560-1 known as the "super freek" in M4 as well as a fullsize crooked river also in M4 built on the custom shop though there is nothing wrong with the standard s30v version. Both are great blades. Outside the benchmade lineup of course you can look at the evergreen stuff from spyderco if that appeals to you. Paramilitary 2s are still one of the most carried knives for a reason with almost a 3 and a half inch blade. The shaman is another larger edc pick that is fantastic. The native chief is also no slouch.

If you arent looking to spend that much there are some good civivi options in that size range as well. The Governor and the Shredder are both very good thinly ground blades that will cut with knives twice the cost and have great action.

I like the boost but not in combo edge. It carries smaller than it is.

Looking at Spyderco too. How about the Caribbean?
Caribbean is awesome. Great grip, even when wet. The LC200N is very tough and corrosion proof. Holds a decent edge too. By far my most carried folder is hotter months.

Spyderco military is by far my favorite "large EDC" knife, it does everything very well and is a very smooth large knife on washers. The shaman is also very good and stout. Endura is nice too with a stout backlock.

The Contego has a combo edge, but that thing is yuuuge and super heavy and aggressive in the pocket.

I wouldn't consider the super freek or maybe presidio 2 and grip "large", but they're very good solid knives with combo edge.

Due to the 4in rule where I live, rarely do I buy folders over that such as the chief and police. I also dont like cold steel folders, but everyone else loves knives such as the American lawman, recon, etc

Good luck!

My go to large folder is the ZT 0350. Carries smaller than its bulk really. If I were to go with a Benchmade I would look at the Adam's and the Mini. The Spyderco Manix 2 XL is also pretty decent size. I have an original Manix (lockback) which is the same size as the Mankx 2 XL and its a big boy.

Not everyone , but certainly ME loves the big Cold Steel folders .

Nobody does the very large folder better than Cold Steel with the Tri-ad lock , IMO .

4" , 5.5" and even larger blade lengths .

Strong , reliable lock with well designed blades and ergonomic handles .

And much better value than the competition .

Large tri-ad lock folders can be more difficult to open than other locks. If your thumb slips while the blade is halfway opened, it will close with force when you will have to make sure none of your finger tips is on its way. Tri ad lock is strong But other locks certainly has advantages over it.

As to the OP, I echo the recommendation on Benchmade super freek and Spyderco Military, and also would add ZT0452. Cold Steel Recon 1 can be a budget choice.
