Hello Everybody,

I'm posting here seeking some help with identifying two knives. Both have the name Patrick engraved on the right hand side of the blade. The one with the wooden handle has it engraved in some sort of handwriting font as compared to the ivory micarta one which has it engraved in some sort of typewriter font. I gladly email pictures so you can see the knives. I've been trying to Identify the knifemaker for quiet some time know and all my inquiries to all the knifemakers with patrick in their name came back so far unsuccessful. I would appreciate any info you could provide me with.

Thank you

The only one I can come up with off the top of my head is Bob Patrick out of Canada.

You'll get a great deal more responses (and good ones) if you can post a picture. :)

I tried uploading the pictures, but I seem to have some trouble there.....any advice on that....

I'm pretty sure the maker is Patrick Donovan. I used to see him at the smaller shows in the California Bay Area. I bought a folder from him back in the early 90's in Sacramento, when they had the show in Sacramento. The signature on my folder matches what I can see of the wood handled knife in your pictures. I never did find out why he signed his knives with his first name.

Patrick isn't even listed in the 'Knives' books directory any more. I had to go back to '89 to find him. He was listed as living in San Jose, CA then. Don't know if he's still around or making any more.

PS.: I also found this about him:

Comments: The fine quality mother of pearl and the rope pattern filework along the spine and backbar contribute to the classy look and feel of this knife. The lock, which is also fileworked, resembles a spur. The locking mechanism is strong and secure. This mint condition knife was custom made for a collector and has been in his collection since its creation. The right side of the blade bears Patrick Donovan's makers mark, "Patrick" in script. Patrick has recently relocated from San Jose to Florida and has retired from knifemaking.

Accoriding to this he actually retired to Pensacola, Florida
