BFC member "Gene" told me that he sent me an email, but I did not receive it in my Inbox or Spam. I checked my BFC settings. The email address is correct and the box is checked to receive emails. I recently received an email from a different member and I sent myself two test emails and both came through. Any ideal why Gene's email did not come through?

Thanks!

No idea, sometimes they get hung up and are lost in the mix. It happens, not very often but once in a while.

Thanks Rev. Gene sent a second test email and it did not come through either.

TAH, who is your email provider by chance is it a free email provider (gmail, yahoo, aol) or is it from an ISP (Comcast, Verizon, Charter, Road Runner)? I've tried emailing people here as well, and once in a while it gets lost in the shuffle and while it looks to be sent, it never arrives. I just sent you a test email, let me know if you receive it.

Rev,

It's an att.net address on Yahoo mail and I did not receive your test email. :(

I used a yahoo account as well. This is a bit frustrating. Last month I sent a member here an email with some information he needed and after I wrote it and sent it, 3 days later he said he never got it.
I think this is something only Spark can figure out I'm afraid.

Before chalking it up to a BF problem, try sending the email directly from your personal email. It could well be that some types of email are incompatible and causing this problem. AOL and Yahoo emails are notorious for doing these things. I've had emails sent directly to me (not using BF) thru both of these that arrived weeks later or not at all.

Yep, that is where I was sort of going with it. Seems that AOL & Yahoo are indeed problematic on many levels. Spark may have some insight into the email system as others with ISP provided email have had similar issues.

I've had two people I know of send emails through the forum and I did not receive them.

I know one of them was using a yahoo address. When I gave him my Gmail address he had no problem getting to me directly.

Emails sent to myself work fine.

Hi I am having the same issue. I used to receive emails at my yahoo mail. All of a sudden doesn't work. Can't send either. I tried updating email to gmail instead of yahoo and still doesn't seem to work. I get the email change confirmation and after that..nothing. I tried sending two help emails to the administrators and pretty sure they didn't get them since no response. How do I fix this so I can send and receive again??

There was an item on the news the other night that the Federal Trade Commission and another Federal agency were getting ready to file a law suit against Google, Comcast, Yahoo and one or two other ISP providers because they were delaying and misrouting e-mails sent through other ISPs who used them for a small fee. The biggies were trying to force their sub-ISPs to pay more for their services. So, it isn't just the imagination of a few members here. Delay and misrouting of e-mails is common now-a-days.

I can't say that this comes as a surprise, this is just sad.
