I have an ontario xm-1 first production run (64/300). Im having more than a little trouble sharpening it. Although I am far from great at sharpening I manage fine with my other knives. I run through the blue, red, and green DMT stones. I then deburr with the lansky ceramic rods, followed by 30 passes on each side on a loaded strop. I can never seem to get a real edge. I've heard from people that I just need to run through more grits, or I dont strop right, but whatever it is, I need help. what do you guys think?

Skip the ceramic rods and move right to the strop.

Finishing with the diamonds will leave less of a burr than the ceramics making it easier to strop.

I have a TOPS CQT Thunder Hawke. I'm very impressed with the steel.I don't go through a long process to sharpen knives .I've used 600 grit paper and a mouse pad to form a convex edge and keep it sharp. Forms and holds an edge quite well !

Love that knife, hate the clip though.

Don't have that knife, but I have a Benchmade Monochrome in N690. It takes a wicked sharp edge and holds it really well. I just used a Sharpmaker and it sharpened up just fine.
