I got the idea to share pics of our truck axes (or car/motor bike/Segway) from CeaderEater's recent restoration thread. Thought it might be fun. . .or at least give me something to do.
Here's mine. It's a 3lbs. Craftsman double oval Connecticut on a boy's handle inside a '71 F100.

Hoping you guy's are into this idea.

Here is my current truck axe for my 1995 Toyota T100. Not my prettiest axe. A Kelly perfect boys axe. The 23" helve was beat up and the axe had chips and mushrooming. I wanted to save the handle since short ones are hard to find. I sanded the gouges and end of the handle and rehung the axe. There still is a chip in the blade, but I didn't want to remove a lot of metal. I found a boy scout sheath at the thrift store for $3 that fits this axe perfect.

I always keep my Council Tool Velvicut Hudson Bay in my main vehicle. But that can change with my plans for the day. Right now I have the CT HB and a Kelly Perfect double bit in the SUV. I had the Kelly out for a run the other day, I had put a new edge on it and had to play with it.

I keep a 3 1/2 lb single bit True Temper with a made-by-me leather sheath in one truck -----------and a single bit Kelly Wood Slasher boy's axe in a made-by-me plastic belting sheath in my farm truck.

My truck 'axe' and my '85 F-150... (97,000 OM ;) )
Yep, we're still driving to our place. We only have around 1 1/2 of snow. We normally have around 3' by now :(
We normally switch to our snowmobiles between thanksgiving and Christmas.

As you can see, I don't throw any of my nice axes in the truck. Just the one that I don't give a damn about :D

I love this thread!! Axes and Trucks, two of my favorite things...

Playing in the snow a couple weeks ago.

You can never bring too many axes.

Right now the axes in the truck are a Collins cruiser and a Keech Timberman.

There's also this "Sweden" hatchet on a 23" handle.

I just happen to have this Sager cruiser with me today. Operator gave me this bad boy.

Nice Memphis :)
Liking that Keech aren't ya ;)

Not to derail the thread, but...
What kinda rubber are you running on your truck?
Are they the Toyo Open Country MT's.
that's what we've got on the Ford.
We got ours last fall. I think it might be the best 1000 bucks that we've ever spent :)

Close, but they are the Nitto Trail Grapplers. Love 'em so far. I had the Toyo MT's prior. I actually like these better because they are a bit quieter. Ask me this fall how the wear goes!

Also, the Keech is a beast. Chops like crazy. I just need to get out and use it more. It's 5.5#'s but I'm surprised at how much easier it handles than my 6# Council Dayton on a 36". Night and day difference.

Keech huh. I feel left out of this whole recent competition axe spree.

I like that sheath from Baileys. I have one myself. Works great for the bigger axes.

I also like seeing Maine-made handles making it out to Idaho.

Yeah, I believe the handle on the KP Jersey is one of the Maine handles from you in addition to the Sweden hatchet of course.

That axe handle has teeth?

:D It's the ridges made from a copy lathe, like this:

I was going to shave it down and take them off, but I kind of like them....:o I want to play with it more before I make a decision. I have not chopped with that axe for a long time yet. I assume I'll end up slimming it down.

I don't have a truck axe, I have an axe truck. Here it is displaying one of my Fiskars.

BAM!!! Put that in your pipe and smoke it!!! Only one hell of a serious axeman buys trucks to go with his axes!!! :D LOL I love it.

Trailmaker, that looks like California. Gorgeous spread! Is it your property?

Also who wants to go in on one of those pallets of roughed out handles in Memphis' video?

I really like what's happened with this thread today;)

Thanks, that is our property and yes it's Northern CA. You can see the Southern end of the bay at the left side of the photo. On a clear day you can see San Francisco, the bay, a big swath of the Pacific, and Monterrey Bay. Not a bad place to split wood.

heck ya when I take the dog out I'm gonna snap a picture! I always travel with an axe and a crow bar. And where ever it is we need one someone always asks why I have it in my car.

Trailmaker, I'll tip my hat in your direction when i'm in San Francisco next week. And hell yes, lobo! Let's see the crow bar as well!
