Alright, I first need to say I did not invent this mod. If I knew who did, I would give them credit for their idea but I can't remember when or where I first saw it. I imagine its a pretty common one but I figured I would post anyway and give my experience.
So all you need to do this mod is a can of truck bed liner and a cup of white sugar. Here is how I chose to apply it.
Take the handle slabs off and give them a light spray of the truck bed liner (its dries to a hard plastic). Try not to coat the handles evenly so you get a raised and textured 'speckle' feel. I did 5 light coats to build up a good layer of the stuff, let it dry and then tried it out for a few days before I decided to go further. I also crammed cotton in the hardware holes so it wouldn't gum up when the screws went back in.
The grip was a little better at this point but I wanted something with a little more friction. I took the slabs back off, gave the handle a final, slightly thinker coat and then dusted the handles with sugar. When it was dry I dissolved the sugar and the handles were finished.
You can see how it turned out below, I tried to shoot the pics to enhance the texture but I'm not the best with a camera
Overall the knife still looks great but it feels even better.
There is now a lot of grip, much more then micarta or even some rubber handles. If you like smooth handles this is not something you should consider, but for me this 7 dollar mod was well worth it.
My BK2 is now perfect  I guess its time to get a 9
