Hello folks, hopefully daylight savings is treating every one well.

Anyways last year my wife and I bought a 2011 Tacoma, to replace my 2000 Ranger I wrote off two years ago in a snowy Christmas accident. The Tacoma is a pretty sweet truck it has taken us lots of places so far, but now we are looking for a spring upgrade for our adventures this year, and we are thinkig about a truck tent. Any one have one?

The two we are looking at are the Adventure Truck Tent and the Sportz Truck Tent lll. Seen bellow. The only difference I can tell is the Adventure has window access to the cab through the rear window, and the Sportz has an awning.

Let me know what you think! Cheers,

The first one looks like you'd have more usable head room and access to the truck interior in the event of curious bear could be handy. I wouldn't spend the night drinking in either one though, drunken bathroom trips could be seriously hazardous
:D

I've got the Adventure Truck Tent I use on a Tacoma. I like it. It goes up quick and is very stable. I put a roll up tonneau cover on last year, and it works with the cover's rails also. I decided against the one with the awning, since a lot of my car camping in on the beach, and I can't ever get the stakes to stay put. Here are a few pics of mine. I usually leave the rain fly off, unless in an absolute downpour.

I do not have one but do exclusively tent camp. For week long camping adventures it is nice to have camp set up with the ability to drive and return to your site. I do not see the truck tent advantage unless you are going on a really short trip.

I have a truck topper that I sleep in. Keeps everything dry and dont have to set it up.

I have the Adventure Truck tent that I use on my GMC 2500. (8ft bed). I love it! I've used it for hunting, camping, race weekends. It's held up well through severe thunderstorms and rain. I've not had a single issue with it.

Set up is easy. It's fairly quick with two people but I can still set it up alone without too much trouble. I use a full size air mattress when my girlfriend goes with me or I have two cots that fit over the wheel wells when it's a hunt weekend. I also recommend some sort of step stool. My truck is very high and a little difficult at times to get in and out. A stool solves that.

I will get another one when or If i ever wear this one out.

we go places in the wife's minivan with the kids and to make shade if need we use a 10 x 12 tarp and if stakes won't hold we have used jugs of water or old coffee cans of sand, dirt or even concrete mix. works good if not in a hurricane.

What kind of cots do you use? I have looked all over the place and can only find three legged ones. Cheers.
