This was a fun project. I retired a few pairs of old Levis and cut them into sections and sent them to Todd Combs at Shadetree Phenolics to turn into a "micarta" composite. I sent this to Burt Foster for some future project. Since I don't have a nice big camp knife, it seemed like one of his Blue Collar camp knives would be a good idea. Blue Collar with blue jean scales. Perfect, right?

Statistics are an 11" clay-hardened 1095 blade with an overall length of 16.5". Leather pouch sheath and his wooden box. I sent Burt my hand measurements and the handle feels great in my hand and the balance point is just ahead of the handle. A big knife but it doesn't feel heavy. The handle color is somewhere between Burt's shot and mine.

In the spirit of some of the recent threads, I yield it up for any discussion and Attaboys...

Burt really knows how to make a kickass camp knife (and a great many other kickass designs, as well). This one looks great and will no doubt serve you well. The cool hamon probably takes it a notch above the regular belt-finish Blue Collar standards. I like the look of the blue micarta better in Burt's pic than in yours. Congrats!

Let me give an Attaboy. No-one does Camp knife better than Burt, and the" Bluejean" story gives this one an extra edge!

I've always loved the lines on this particular style of Burt's , and Roger's right about the special kick the hamon gives this one.

attaboy(s)!
love the blue jean thing, that really makes it unique and the fact the handle is built for your hand probably makes holding this knife about as comfortable as putting your hand in the pocket of your favourite jeans.
I'm greatly looking forward to working with Burt one of these days.

Very cool! I love the blue jeans, very fitting. Fantastic looking knife as well. Bet that's a mean cutter... How thick is the blade?

I'll see your attaboys and raise you one Hell Yeah!

Love it! Being the proud owner and regular user of a Foster camp knife for almost 10 years now I can say with certainty that this one will serve you well.

Did you quench it in salt brine or what kind of quench did you use. I love the Hamon on that knife. Marlin
