I am looking for a Damascus folder, I know that most Damascus now are made for looks, but the principle behind the true manufacturing process sounds sound. Who makes good Damascus for daily use? (Not for looks) I am willing to spend about $200.00 on one.

Hmmmm. Can't really give you and answer on that one. I have several damascus knives, but as you said, most are for looks and are collectors. All my damascus user knives consist of a core metal like VG10 or Cowry X laminated with damascus.

There are a few members that have posted they are happy with Kanetsune for damascus.

Maybe posting in the makers forum would yield better results. They likely know who produces good damascus.

If it's pure cutting and not looks, Damascus steel isn't anything special, there are some great steels out there. Great folders from Spyderco Benchmade etc.

Hope this helps.

I only have 1 Boker left, and unfortunately its broken. I can tell you Kershaw makes an excellent product, much higher in quality than their prices would suggest. And they have a flawless CS department and best in the business warranty. All of their Damascus blades are made here in the USA by Alabama Damascus. You might want to check with 2bkc or kershawguy in the For Sale by Dealers forum for more info and availability.
