Want to strongly recommend the new HBO series, True Detective.

Seriously good stuff on all levels; writing, acting, filming.

Woody Harrelson and Mathew McConoughy are homicide detectives working a ritualized murder. Harrelson is typically "cop"... Straight as an arrow, not overly educated, "street smart". McConougy is cerebral, misanthropic... Downright weird.

The dialogue between these characters is terrific. Last night's episode (episode 4) ends with a ten-minute long single tracking shot of a drug-takedown shooting-riot thing that is just absolutely one of the best things I've seen on TV.
Ranks right up there with the big battle scene in Children Of Men... Another long, single-camera tracking shot.
Give it a look.
 
I've been recommending this show to everyone. They're talking an Oscar for Matthew McC. And it doesn't hurt that I've been through many of these little South Louisiana cities myself.
 
Cool, I haven't checked that out yet. I'm finishing up with (person of interest) got four episodes left.
 
Haven't watched TV for a long time (several months) but I did read about this somewhere. Thanks for the heads-up.
 
True detective is a GREAT show. It gave the walking dead the boot for the Sunday 9pm slot.
 
Yeah its an amazing show, I'm totally hooked. A word to the wise though, don't go on IMDB forums there is someone on there spoiling key plot points, no idea how the person knows them but I saw one of their posts and it spoiled a really huge plot point (always gotta be some asshole out there).
 
I just found out Alex Daddario is in it (W&C regulars know some of my posts about her). I also just literally watched her recent scene with Woody Harrelson, plus some screen caps to go along with it.

Holee crap...I think I'm about to have an aneurysm.

Yep saw that last night. So awesome.

I love most of HBO's shows just haven't started this one yet for no particular reason. I'll probably wait till I have a full day off and then binge it.
 
Sounds good. I've recently started watching Homeland. It's a pretty good story, but the story stalled out around episode 3-4. Starting on the second half of season 1. I need to catch up on Justified too. I sure miss Deadwood. :(
 
Here's the question, what knife does M.Mc use whilst sitting in the interviews to demolish beer cans?
 
Great show ! I think I'll try to finish the final three episodes today.

Justified is one of my most favorite shows ever. I hate that next season will be the final season.
Deadwood is another great one, and Timothy Olyphant is great in both.

True Detective is a great series. Great soundtrack too. I'm a fan of most HBO dramas. Treme is another great show that's ended too soon.
 
I just watched the entire first season on-demand, very edgy with great acting....best (to me) since Breaking Bad.
