Saw a vendor (which may not be a BF vendor so I won’t post the link) selling a TF thrower in S50C. First time I’ve heard of this steel. Any info on it?

How does it compare to 1055 steel?

Is this vendor……..trustworthy?

A quick search for S50C got several hits, so it is a real steel. Listed as a”mechanical structural steel” and .47-.53 % carbon according to one source, so maybe not overly hardenable.

AI says this :
S50C is a medium-carbon alloy steel known for its strength, toughness, and wear resistance, commonly used in Cold Steel products like knives and throwing weapons. It is characterized by a carbon content of approximately 0.50%, making it suitable for applications requiring high hardness and good machinability.

Said also is used on the Gladius Thrower .

The German site of Cold Steel seems to offer an S50C version. Sorry, it’s a nothingburger and I was just purely curious about the steel.

Based on the carbon content, I’m guessing it performs similar to 1055.
