True Grit Remake

I thought they tried to remake True Grit years ago, it was called Rooster Cogburn, and wasn't anywhere near as good as True Grit.

They should leave it alone. True Grit is one of my favorite John Wayne movies. I like the Coen brothers movies, I like Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon and Josh Brolin. But leave True Grit alone.

Rooster Cogburn was a sequel to True Grit, not a remake. Actually, I read that the Coen brothers film will be a movie based on the book and not really a remake. Hopefully, both films wil be different enough to seperately stand alone.

Why? WHY? There are hundreds of bad movies that could easily be remade into better ones. Why do they keep remaking good movies into worse ones? Arghhhhhhhhhhh!

I love the original "True Grit"......
Let's hope the remake does not end up being called "True Shhh......" :D

I kind of doubt it will be as good as the original..

...I say go for it. :)

:foot::mad: NOPE it ain't gonna happen "THERE" ain't "NO" one who can out do the "ONE EYED Fat Man" Rooster so get over it already!!!;):p
"Courage is being scared to death.... but saddleing up anyway" John Wayne

I spent every weekend as a kid growing up watching with my now deceased Grandpa (my best friend)on Saturday nights the late show, and have very vivid memories watching each and every movie John Wayne played in!!!;)

Oh man, I love those older John Wayne movies. Rio Lobo, Silverado, and Big Jake are some of my favorites.

I have to say though, if anyone could pull a True Grit remake off, it's probably the Coen brothers. I certainly enjoyed No Country for Old Men, and after reading the novel, I was amazed at how close the two were.

I've never seen a "bad" Coen Brothers movie
I think it will be good....

I saw No Country For Old Men and I want the Coen Brothers to give me 2-1/2 hours of my life back. They should stick to comedies (and Miller's Crossing). Maybe if they re-write True Grit based on the Iliad and have Rooster refer to himself as "The Dude", maybe it'll be a good movie.

I can not say "Amen!" loud enough. Where'a a Baptist when you need one?

Now that's funny. I can picture it now...

The original True Grit was a movie that should not have worked. John Wayne was not a great dramatic talent - Glen Campbell and Kim Darby were terrible actors and yet the thing came together like magic. I saw it when it first hit the theatres and loved it- I have watched it many times since and it has not lost any appeal.

The Coen Brothers have talent - the news of this remake did not sit well with me but I will reserve judgement until I see the new film.

Okay, I've really thought about this for a few minutes now, and I have something to say.:grumpy:

Trying to remake an old classic movie, western or otherwise, and not leaving something wonderful alone, shold be punishable by firing squad. Said firing squad will be armed with Winchester lever action repeaters!

Absolutely JK. I don't think they deserve bringing out the old Winchesters though. Make em suffer and use a bow and arrow :D

Only one thing to say to the Coen Brothers - "Fill your hands, you sons of a bitch!"
