So, I was expecting my new Snakewood Sebenza today. USPS tracking confirmed it was scheduled today, then "out for delivery". So far so good. However, the mail carrier at office came at 11AM and went without delivering. Receptionist said she had a package for you but wouldn't leave it because she couldn't find the "pink slip" and needed to go get another one. SO Close!! She would be back later. I waited until 3:30PM and tried calling the Post Office tracking number. The term going postal should refer to those of us who have to deal with their telephone system. It's impossible to get a person on the line and all the system would say is "out for deliver", I KNOW THAT! I got the local number but no answer then busy, busy, busy!
So at 4PM I go to local post office, wait in line. My turn. Sir you need to go to that other line to speak to a manager. Seriously? Manager was nice and couldn't believe she refused to leave the package. He called carrier on her cell phone and asked where she was. Only a mile awhile at another office. He gave me another "pink slip" and sent me to meet her. I found her driving away from where I was supposed to meet her and followed her to her next stop. Ran to her waving my pink slip and saying "I need my package". She was not nice, not apologetic and was not planning to come back to my office, which by this time was closed.

Anyway, I did get my new knife and trust me, I would not have done all this if it has not been a slow day at the office. Not being busy today just gave me more time to Anticipate.

Great knife! Glad you got it. Sorry you had to deal with all the USPS drama. I ordered a Sebenza recently and paid to have FedEx deliver because I have always had the best luck with them.

Heck .... I would have run her ..... I mean chased her down as well!!!! Fortunately, I live in a small town and my mail carrier KNOWS not to delay my knife deliveries!!! Love that snakewood!

Don't even get me started on the USPS! Half the time when I get a knife coming in the mail that requires a signature, they won't even bother to ring my door bell. Countless times I've been home, waiting for delivery of a package, checking the mail every 30 minutes and what do you know? They sneak in and deliver the mail, and are too lazy to walk four steps to my door, so they leave that stupid note that says I wasn't home! I was Home! It always seems to happen on a Friday too, so I have to wait two grueling days until Monday. I've even tried putting a note inside my mailbox that says "I am home, please ring doorbell for signature" and they put their bs "undeliverable" note right on top of it.

It's insane, in the morning on the day a signature package is supposed to be delivered, they put my package on the mail truck with no intention of delivering it to me. They drive it around all day, un-accessible to me, and then bring it back to the post office that night. Then I have to pick it up the next business day. Just leave it there in the first place and save me a day. I'll just go pick it up since you're incapable of delivering a darn package. They are the most inefficient lot ever IMHO. Shut them down and give me UPS or Fed EX.

Rant over.

USPS has been terrible for me too, I don't think they bother to walk up the flight of stairs to the door... I keep getting these pink slips, but I work at home and can easily hear the door from a few feet away. Tracking says they tried to deliver it at 10am or whatever and left a pink slip...but I've been up since 8am and haven't heard anything come to the door. A lot of USPS workers are terribly lazy, I almost want to say I hate insurance and signing because then it just becomes a pink slip multiple day fiasco...just leave it in the stupid mailbox with the lock and key.

That said, good thing the post office is across the street from this bbq place, so its an excuse to get lunch. (:

I may be one of the only ones with a good experience with USPS. The last few times I was anticipating a package that required a signature, I was going to either be working in my garage or in my back yard. I simply leave a note that reads "Dear Friendly Mail Carrier, I am in the back yard (or garage), please bring any package that needs to be signed for to the back yard/garage." it has been very successful. Maybe I have a good carrier?

Anticipation CAN make you crazy, as we see here. :p :D

I get it, crazy is and crazy does. Mine yesterday was temporary insanity. I'm fine today, but now heading up to Tulsa for the Wanemacher Gun and Knife show. My wife says that is crazy. Perhaps, but again only temporary. I'll be fine again on Sunday.

That's a very nice looking Snakewood you have there! :)

Glad you were able to track that beautiful knife down... What a pain in the butt!

I can't believe the postal worker acted like that.

I swear most of the people at the post office hate there jobs, at least it looks and seems like it.

My mail carrier is a nice guy luckily :)

I live in a small village, not a town really. I'm on a first name basis with my carrier. She gave me some tan cards to sign and leave in the mail box

when I'm 'expecting'. So much easier leaving the tan card!! I'm less than 5 minutes away from the nearest town.

Whenever she has a package... a knife or anything else too big to fit in the mail box she calls me on her phone. She gives dog cookies to my dog sometimes. I leave treats for her

too sometimes.

Congrats on scoring such a beauty.

I have literally chased them down the road on foot.

You're living the dream!!!

Although I don't get too many goodies lately, I am pretty lucky. My local P.O. issues/sells you a door key which allows you access to your box after hours. If the item is too large for your box they have small lockers. They put the item in the locker and the key to it in your box. It works out great for me when I can convince someone to ship to my P.O. Box. If I have to deal with the brown truck it is a whole other ballgame. I used to live on the county line. I used to drive around town on Fridays (When I was off) in order to get my stuff after dealing with the system. They would say that they tried to deliver, but I never got a notice. They simply did not want to go that far out of their way!
