True Temper Tommy Axe Poll - Hardened??

Does any one know for sure if the True Temper Tommy Axe has a hardened poll? I've been diging the look of this and also I like the weight/size for a hatchet. If it has a hardened Poll that would make it exactly what I think I want for camping and such.

If not, is there a heavier hatchet (1-3/4 lb ish head) with a hammer poll and a Dayton-ish pattern (just not what I would call a "shingling style" hatchet) that anyone could recommend?

Thanks in advance!

It's hardened. That's why you see so many with broken claws. FWIW, the claw on the Tommy Axe is not very effective because the length of the poll face robs leverage from it. Claw hatchets have more useful claws. But the Tommy Axe with its high centerline makes a better chopper.

Thanks Square Peg! I'm not really looking for it to pull nails, just drive a stake and chop some kindling if I can ever get out camping. Thanks for the heads up though on the puller, I've seen people remove them, but I'm not sure I'll go that far.

Thanks!!

Or maybe a Dynamic? I'm not sure if the have hardened polls. And their poll surface is smaller than the Tommy. Cooper modded a Tommy and removed the puller fangs.

de-fanged Tommy axe which is the same as a TT Tomahawk.

@Cooperhill very nice!

@square peg, can it not break off regular steel?

@operator I feel the same way, I've seen mushroomed polls, but I'm no expert, about as far as you can get actually lol!

I did a test on one i acquired recently and Pegs is right - the poll is hardened. I will post pics soon.
