I previously restored a tommy axe for a neighbor but found one on buy it now on ebay for $12. It was in good condition. I had a unique handle from a Keen Kutter Connecticut pattern axe that i had to modify as some of the wood was broken on top. This small but weighty axe was perfect for it. I think it came out good.

Thanks for looking.

Very nice! What length is the handle? I've got one of those TT tommy axes and I'm thinking about fitting it to a longer handle than the original.

Very nice Coop!
I had one of those awhile back. It was literally never used. It had the original edge guard on it when I picked it up at the pawn shop.
I sold it though... Wish now that I would have kept it :(

Those Tommy Axes are heavy for their size. I never weighed mine when I had the handle off of it but I bet it was at least 1.75 lbs. - quite heavy for a hatchet-sized tools. They could do with a longer handle.

I like that handle. Nice thin taper into the grip and then BAM! into a substantial swell. I bet it's a real pleasure to swing. Well done.

Now that is a nice looking chunk of steel! I love the sweeping lines to that handle. Nicely done Coop.

Anybody know if the tommy axe's poll is tempered harder than a standard poll? Just wondering considering its intended usage as it has a nail puller.....

It would have to be. And I've seen several of those with cracked claws - an indication that the poll is hardened.

Another nice one! Still curious about your photography, it just looks wonderful.
