A friend brought me an axe to restore. She found it at a place she bought. It is a True Temper. The head is marked TRUE TEMPER, and below that is marked, Y-35 MIK. It's not a Kelly Works, so it must be post 1949. The 35 is 3.5 lb head. The M is Michigan for the pattern. I am trying to get a time period. I am guessing 1960-1980. Does anyone have access to any old True Temper catalogues? There may be a small M or H next to the Y. Any ideas?
I'll post some photos once it gets cleaned up.

You might have to wait then, because as they say a picture paints a thousand words. And sometimes descriptions just aren't enough.

Are the cheeks flat or convex ? Cause that would tell you if it was pre or post early 1970's ( I say 1970's because most companies started doing away with proper head geometry In the late 60's )

Woodslasher 3.5# single bit Michigan -- 35m1k is the designation even now. K is woodslasher, P is perfect. A 35D1P is a 3.5# Perfect Dayton, and a 35M2K is a 3.5# Michigan double-bit woodslasher.

Here is the Barco current product:

Just about ready to post the pictures. I have put the angle grinder to it and done some filing. The rear part of the bit was painted red. There is no double phantom bevel on this bit.
