Truly Addicted?

Tomorrow (Being Sat Feb 26) I plan on spending $250.00 on knives...my girlfriend thinks this is stupid...I was hoping to hear any stories about when you found out that you were truly addicted to knives...
 
I think your girlfriends stupid, so it evens out :p

I knew I was addicted when I was about 8 and just got my first SAK, my 3rd knife ever.
 
My addiction became evident on my 15th wedding anniversary. My wife asked for a Mothers Ring with the birthstone and name of both of our kids. I asked for a Damascus and maple burl custom fixed blade from Mike Wilson. :o

We both got our wish :p.
 
About 3 years ago I spent about $1600 over a Summer on knives. I was only making $30,000 a year. Now its even worse. I keep needing 1 of each size, shape, custom maker, production company, you name it. I thought guns were addictive. Wait until you start buying customs.

I have found the fact that knives are cheaper and can be shipped right to your door seriously increases the addiction!
 
I'm not addicted, I can quite anytime I want. In fact, I only need just one more.

Heh. If she thinks it's stupid now, wait until you spend $250 and up on knives one single knife.
 
Let's see.... In th past 30 days I've bought 5-6 knives. Two days ago I bought an Opinel Custom for $100. Then this afternoon I dropped $300+ on a CRK Umnumzaan and tonight I am once again perusing the exchange. I think I qualify.
 
It can get bad. Luckily I found the one. And only maybe a dozen knives in the whole market really appeal to me this year.
Im a veteran addict.
 
Your girlfriend is probably right, but if you're anything like me, it won't stop you. :p

I just spent $1000 on one custom knife...but I also bought my girlfriend an engagement ring as well so I guess it's ok :cool:
 
^^ Congrats, and ive had a fascination with knives since I was about 8 (perhaps even younger) when I got my first SAK... Ive beaten it to hell and one day it fell into a lake when I was fishing. After that I got a SwissChamp from my dad and still use it everytime I go camping. After that... Well thats just the beginning of my incurable sickness :D
 
I figured it out when i found that i always needed one more. then i found the bladesmith forums, and things have gone downhill fast. i am now trying to connive myself into selling knives to get steel and such. who needs ecstasy? i have chocolate chip cookies and knives :D drugs are for girls, uh, i mean, uh, sheeple, yeah, sheeple.

Truly addicted?

There's a member here who lives in his car but spends his paycheck on knives.
