nice job.

i like to use the platen attached and applying pressure on the belt...this makes the slack portion flatter, so the curve of the convex is flatter.

but it looks like your results are nice too.

i love the 1x30, and leevalley's 3M belts.
 
Grinder- usually $40, sometimes $30 on sale
Abrasive/Polishing Belts- 3-5 bucks each
Leather Belt- ~$20 iirc
 
That's a pretty trick setup. I didn't know you could get belts that fine. I also think that if you're not pretty careful when you apply the knife, that you run the risk of rolling the edge from the belt flexibility....but it seems like you know exactly what you're doing....nice!
 
i just got this grinder last weekend its very easy to use

you have absolutely got to try it!

on the fine belts, you can get a very smooth polished edge, but it just has no bite at all, it seems like when you put your blade to the piece to be cut if it doesnt start slicing, sawing back and forth doesnt help much.....go figure

you probably rolled the edge
 
i was thinking, that how do i keep from doin that? use a lighter hand....where can i order one of those?
