Though I love the lines and curves, I will probably never make a kukri. However, as a CAD challenge it seemed like the best idea to give it a shot.

Let me know if you like it, or hate it. Or if you use FreeCAD and have any good pointers.

If anyone actually wants this I would be happy to provide and actual reasonable format. This is just a postable PNG file.

No comments but I’d be happy to mark that up for you to meet professional engineering standards :D Just kidding
My first job was an autoCad mechanical draftsman in 1991

Feel free :)

I started off with AutoCAD but when I lost access to it I decided it wasn't worth $10K to me. I have spent a fair amount of time in things like Blender, Inkscape, and a bunch of different 2D CADs. Probably, Inkscape would be sufficient for damn near anything I would ever need. But it just seemed like a true 3D CAD would be a correct tool. And moving forward it will allow me to deal with 3D Printing, or CNC and so forth. And, if I am doing everything in the same tool, it will be less confusing in the long run. :)

Start with a couple basics.

Avoid placing dimensions on the part.

Set some spacing from the leader lines so the lines don’t touch the part

Since you're familiar with AutoCAD you might look at NanoCAD for 2D work. It uses a very similar command structure as AutoCAD, and works with dwg files just fine. NanoCAD is free and available for Windoz only - well, maybe MAC.

Unfortunately, I am not "familiar" with AutoCAD. Since I have been away from it as long as I have, I no longer have any muscle memory or keyboard retention. Funny thing about CAD packages, once you stop using them for perhaps a minute or two, all the commands go right out the window. Same thing with Blender. As for 2D, I see no reason to learn yet another of them. I am quite happy with Inkscape FWIW. And if I had to do 2D I would certainly pick up LibreCAD or QCAD. But thanks for the suggestion. I remember when you could not find a good CAD interface without spending lots of money. It is nice to see the availability of so many high quality options today.
