Been getting a lot of inspiration here lately to try and make my own. Had this piece of oak for a few years now with the intent to use for a knife project.

The wife is taking the kids away for a week so I'll have some time to do this. Keep ya posted.

Glad these hooligans can inspire someone :D can't wait to see the result. Good luck my man

Try it out with some junk wood 1st. You'll make a bunch of your mistakes on that without screwing up your nicer wood. Oh, and you'll screw up less quickly using hand tools.

Yea I told clich he should try his hand at this and thought to myself "why haven't I?" I have some vacation coming up and just took a red wood down this morning. I was going to give it some time to dry out some more and to the same thing to my San Mai 11.

What are you going to use as fasteners? Only thing in the process I haven't thought out.

Edit: Before anyone tries to hit me for killing a tree. The red wood has been dead for over a year. All attempts to resuscitate had been to no avail. We had contacted next of kin and after funeral services were given permission to use the remains to better man kind.
