Picked up a custom shop full size Grip from a forum member yesterday. I have been wanting to try the Griptilian or a very long time but never bit the bullet.

I cannot wait to get it in my hands! I have been watching YouTube videos to callm my patience. Haha. Like a little kid waiting for Xmas.

I will be sure to post up pics and a little review when it arrives.

I'd have one in my collection by now, but the only local store that carries BM won't carry the grips as they say they don't sell???

That's funny. I feel like they are just as popular as the PM2 if not more. They have been around forever. I think there are a few places that sell them around me, but cabelas is the only one I can think of off the top of my head.

I think I would just stick to the exchange as they can be had for a lot less.

I got mine from wjswiger on here. He is very knowledgable about them, and from the looks of it, keeps them in minty fresh condition.

I really can't wait to get my hands on it!

That is odd because they sell like crazy. So much that they started the Custom build program. I don't have actual statistics but I would bet that they have sold more Grips than any other model they make...

I hear we are getting a Cabelas and a Bass Pro in 2015/16. The local knife shop that I was talking about has strange ideas, they won't carry Spyderco as they prefer Benchmade (no Grips) but they carry SOG and CRKT. They also bring in Gold class knives which you think wouldn't sell as well as Griptilians...

I just picked up my first Grip about a month ago. One of the M390 Ritter grips. I never cared for the look but I figured all the positive reviews warrant giving it a shot. I love the blade shape and steel. Not too crazy about the handle. I have new scales coming from Keyman so we'll see how much of a difference they make. It does make a very good work knife for me. It cuts really well, a little big, it tends to get comments from customers, not the best ergos for me. At the end of the day though it gets the job done and I could very easily make it my only work/outdoors knife.

They probably made that decision before BM enforced the MAP policy. Prior to that there was a huge difference between what retailers were selling them for and the online retailers were selling them for.

I thought I saw a mini-grip at the local Bass Pro, though I could be wrong. They definitely had some Spydercos, and the 940. I know that the Gander Mountain I was last at had 3 mini-grips, and a regular one.

Last time I was in a BPro shop they sold Benchmade and Spyderco and CRKT, SOG, Case and a bunch others.

Ya, the local knife shop will be getting some competition when Cabelas and Bass Pro come to town. I'll probably order a mini grip online before then though ;)

Cabelas has an exclusive for them. Green or black scales with a coated D2 blade. It is a good buy right now too..

ETA: I just went to their website, and they have added a sand colored Mini with a coated blade. They must have just added it because I didn't see it yesterday.

The Grip is benchmades #1 selling knife. I personally love mine. I just put an Adamas deep carry clip on it, and it's even better now.

I made the mistake of buying a Grip a few years ago, now I have several, it became my favorite carry. I like a lot of knives but keep coming back to my Ritter Mini Grip.

Picked up a Cabella's Grippie in D2 last year in Arizona. Great steel, light, comfortable in the pocket, and the wonderful Axis lock, so it's been my edc ever since. Much prefer the D2 to 154CM.

Well guys the knife arrived while I was away for the holiday. Needless to say, I was a little stir crazy waiting to get my hands on it.

I must say this knife is pretty nice! My initial impression was that it was a lot smaller than I expected. I figured it would be larger almost near the size of my military. So I was quite surprised and happy that it was not. Also makes me happy that I did not go with the Mini-grip, as it would have been way to small for me.

The Grip is definitely a weird feeling, especially since I have never held one before. It feels totally different compared to my FRN Delica, but not in a bad way.

I really like axis lock and how smooth it is. I also like how easy it is to swap the scales out on this thing. It came with the white scales on it but I changed them out this morning for the black ones. Since I teach auto mechanics, I tend to get things dirty and greasy all the time, which is why I opted for the black.

Its riding in my pocket as Im typing this up. We shall see if it knocks my Spyderco Gayle Bradley and Military out of my pocket or does not cut it. Only time will tell.

Swapped out the scales this morning before work. Took a few minutes.

I tightened up the pivot a little so there was no blade play, and lubed it up with some Fire Clean and now its buttery smooth.

Its taking me a little time to get the wrist flick open and close down. I will report back with a more formal review of my experience as I get more time with it.

Thanks for looking guys.

Very cool. Give it some time before you come to a conclusion. It takes some people awhile to acclimate to the different feel, but I have no doubt you will like it...
It has some stiff competition with the Bradley, and Military, as they are both great knives, but I'm a little biased on the Griptilians :D

Thanks for the reply! I really do love those two spydercos, and its going to be hard to get them out of my pocket. But I will be sure to give the Grip a fair chance.

So far today, It has been carrying very well in the pocket without any real notice of it being there. It definitely feels good in the hand due to the added thickness. I sometimes struggle to find a knife that I both love, and fits good in the hand. It usually ends up that I love it, but feels like crap when I use it. Or digs into my hand so bad I can hardly stand it.

Im going to have to look at centering the blade some. It rubs on the pocket clip side of the scale a little. Not a huge issue but I want to fix it if I can.

Thanks for looking guys.

Just wanted to park this picture here .... :D

Oh man!! I'm desperately trying to figure out ways to save for a ritter grip!! Love that blade. I am really liking this knife. I used it to open a bunch of boxes and stuff at work today. Came home , gave it an unnecessary touch up on the sharpmaker, and put her right back in my pocket.

I need to get some real use in on this baby. Hopefully this weekend.
