This was done with horseradish mustard, applied with a bunched up paper towel in a random pattern, and left on for around 30 minutes:

I'm pretty happy with the results. Sorry if the pics are blurry, but they were taken with a phone. :o I really need to get a legitimate camera...

The pattern is nice. Use it a while and it'll become really subtle and you'll get a nice natural patina over it.

Wow I really like that!

I plan on stripping a few of my Beckers since the coating is coming off and want to force a patina on them. I might use the same technuque as you.

Thanks for posting,

Jeremy

That looks really nice! I like that it's even throughout the blade.
I gave patina my first try not too long ago.

It didn't come out as cool, but I'm satisfied.

If that one gets worn down and you do it again, I discovered that degreasing the blade beforehand is really helpful. I just used dish soap, and that worked fine. Other dudes go so far as to use alcohol or some other strong cleaner to get it done. I like the way it looks on yours, though, because it looks like an older blade (which is kind of the idea...).

Came out looking really good. to me a has a natural look to it, not forced

I used alcohol wipes on mine.... I had a bunch next to the work bench.

That turned out awesome. One of the best patinas I've seen. Almost looks etched.

Fantastic job with the patina!
I need to figure out how to remove the patina off my knife and start over :(

very nice, I like the how the pattern turned out. Did you round off the clip on your 9? It looks good.

Thanks guys for your thoughts on the patina, too. I might try to darken them up a little bit with some white vinegar, but we'll see...

Great job. Does this patina wear off over time?

Yeah, it can be worn off if it gets abraded pretty hard. Sandpaper will remove it.

The idea, though, is to actually let it get darker. It won't rust as easily with the patina. Instead, where it would normally develop rust, it is more likely to darken the patina.
