For a long time I carried a Vic classic SD for the toothpick tweezers and scissors, but as it is right now the only thing from the classic I need is the scissors.
Here's where I started thinking what if took the scissors off of one, so I went on eBay and found a couple used classics for just a few dollars shipped.
I got a red classic SD with a broken scale which I gutted for the scissors, and a red Classic which I'm keeping because I've got 4 SD's and no regular classics.

Anyways all it took was a few seconds to pop the scales off and snip of one pin with a small pair of Dykes to remove the scissors.

It's definitely small and not a lot to hold on to now, but I only ever used them to cut loose threads and shirt tags here and there.
Still adequate for this task and putting my finger through the loop of string does help hold onto it.

I'll try this for a while and see how it works and whether or not I wanna just go back to just sticking with a classic when I'm not carrying a Squirt or Micra.

So far I've used it a few times and it works fine, it's gonna be a bit fiddly at times but it's not too bad.

I think a little pouch on the front of a fly vest would be the perfect place for that.

It might for a fly fisherman.
If I was going to do something like this I'd probably go with a pair of replacement scissors for a Swisscard.
They're readily available to for under $10 and are honestly a bit better than these.
The scissors themselves are a little bigger iirc and they're less finicky to use.

That sounds like a great idea. I personally seldom use a scissors on a SAK hence the models I get don't normally have a scissors. It is all a matter of what you get used to using with your regular routines. My little Leatherman Squirt has a scissors and it is nearly always in my pocket since my car keys are on the key chain. But again, I don't think I have ever used the scissors on either of the two I own.

Do you have a 'stache ?
That's one of my main uses for the scissors, a stray hair touching my lip bothers the crap out of me.

Every multitool or Vic model has something that won't be used by somebody, the big one for me is cap lifters.
A couple weeks ago I used the cap lifter on my squirt I think it was to open a bottle of Martinelli's sparkling apple cider, and that's probably the 3rd time In a few years that I've needed a cap lifter.
I don't drink so unless I've got a Jones soda or some sparkling apple cider ( which isn't often ) I have absolutely no use for a cap lifter.

It is interesting how a certain tool is necessary to one and not the other. A cap lifter is a basic part of any SAK for me.

Nice little ‘hack’ with the scissors. Necessity is definitely the mother of invention.

Garrett Wade sells little mini thread snips! Exactly what you want. If and when those go out to pasture have a look see!
