I tried contacting Mr. Krein by e mail with this message, but it keeps getting returned as undeliverable. Does anyone know some contact info for him?
"My name is Mike Cheshareck (gunmike1 on bladeforums), and after having some online discussions with Cliff Stamp I am interested in you possibly hollow grinding a couple knives for me. One is my Spyderco Jess Horn (ZDP/420J2) that I reprofiled flat to the stone. It is horribly scratched up and is now flat ground instead of hollow ground down by the choil. I was wondering if it would be possible for you to deepen the hollow and thin the knife out some, so I can again have a defined edge bevel and ease my sharpening, which is a pain now that I am abrading so much surface area now when I go flat to the stone. The edge angle is right around 8 degrees per side now, and if I could go a little thinner that would be nice, but with the swedge grind I'm not sure how possible that is. I realize that this will lower the strength, but I only intend to do light duty work with it with no twisting cuts. Appearance isn't too much of a concern for me, but if it wouldn't be much more I wouldn't mind having the finish improved to near stock levels.
The other project would be a Falkniven U2 to similar specs to what you did for Cliff Stamp. Again, I know it won't be that strong, but I only intend to do light duty work with it. I carry larger, stronger knives for my heavier work. I don't own the knife yet, but just wanted an idea on how much it would be to have you thin it out for me.
Thank You, Mike Cheshareck
