My granfather of Swiss decent passed last year and my father just gave me his old Swiss Army Knife, the old man had engraved his initials on it and it looks quite old, I wanted to know what year it could have been from, I think he carried it by his side for a long long time. It doesn't come with a box but I'd like to get something to store it in so I can eventually pass it down too, maybe engrave my dads initials and my own on the box I get for it too.

If anyone can date this for me, it'd be fantastic, maybe I can even find a box of for it of the correct year if that still possible to find.

Images aren't working for some reason.

It's a red body, with the built in larger hanger or loop on the end that's built in with the single rivet going through. Rather than a small keyring like I see on new ones

The blade is not thick like what I see slot of Swiss Army Knife blades, it's more thin and long.

The logo has the pointed bottom in the Sheild

It says "Elinox", with an umbrella behind the writing on one side of the blade, then "victorinox Switzerland stainless rostfrei", and "Pat+" on the bottle opener.

It has the thin and long main blade,
A short stubby blade on the opposite side,
Corcksrew,

two types of bottler opener looking pieces, one with a Flathead screwdriver end. And a very small nail pick looking thing, shaped like a blade bunt with no edge. maybe for scraping? Not sure

And a very long saw blade running down the middle spine of the blade. No scissors or others.

As a registered user, you can post pictures using a picture hosting site. I use Imgur, but there are others. Once you have uploaded a picture to the hosting site, copy the web address of the picture. Note: picture web addresses must end in .jpg or .gif

Then go to your post and click the image tool on the toolbar next to the smiley tool. Paste the picture address into the resulting popup. Then click the INSERT button.

I can only get one picture open, it is an older Camper, old enough to have a clip point secondary (pre-1973). The tang stamp is even older.

I got a couple to open. Looks like the main blade is so thin as a result of lots of sharpening. Probably looked a lot like today's SAKs when it was new.

The "umbrella" is a crossbow, I believe.

Regarding the two "bottle openers," the one with "+PAT" is a can opener.

I think the "small nail pick" is an awl.

That's a nice looking knife, hope you can find the information you're looking for!
