Trying to decide BK11 or BK24

Going back to carrying a fixed blade and want something light like a skeleton blade for front pocket carry. I've always liked the Kephart blade shape on the Beckers, and the steel is good. Trying to decide between the BK11 and the BK24 D'eskabar. Prefer D2 over 1095 simply 'cause of the slightly better rust resistance in the very humid local weather, and I'm not fond of coated blades eventually looking all banged up, but either will work. The big thing is that I want something I can get at least part of my 4th finger on when gripped. I have medium size hands. BK11 is 6 3/4" which I like from a pocketability standpoint, but the BK24 is a tad bit longer which might help with the grip. I may eventually make a set of thin scales for the knife if it bites my hand while cutting wood.

The only other knife I'm considering is the BRKT Bravo Necker, but I like the looks of the Kabar a lot more.

Any thoughts?

I was in a similar position and decided on both.

I knew someone was going to say that!

Can you get 4 fingers on both of them? Is the smaller one definitely a 3 finger knife?

Both are going to be great, the 14/24 is going to give you a better grip, the 11 is going to be more easily pocketed, albeit all 3 are very portable... In my opinion if you want a better grip get the 14 or 24... Honestly the 11 gives a good grip its just different, unless you are really putting out on the blade its going to be negligible. Its just my mileage says the 14 is more comfortable.

Go with the 24. You've already successfully convinced us that you have convinced yourself that you want the 24. You mentioned D2 and 4 fingers. You didn't mention anything about the 11 except a negative (don't like coating), so you've already decided.

You've already made your mind up. You want the steel of the 24. And the grip. If you want to try both, buy both, and trade the one you like least, or use both.

I've got small to medium sized hands, and on the 11 I get a 3 1/2 finger grip; on my 14, it's a full four-finger.
I actually prefer the 11 though, just seems to fit me better. It's a little easier to conceal, and I'm not a big fan of the carabiner hole on the 14.

This is what I will say. I love my 11, I keep it around my neck all day every day. I CAN have a 4 finger grip, but what I will usually do is since I use it primarily for slicing I will run my forefinger along the spine of the blade and keep my three fingers on the grip.

I also have a 14 or two, and a 24. I keep a 24 in my GHB and I never think twice about grabbing it if I need it.

Well, the 11 just looks too cool, so ordered that and well see how it goes. Guess it's pretty obvious this story will end with both knives though.

Oh, I did use the bottle opener once, it worked, but I wasn't all giggly about it when I used it. Maybe I'd appreciate it more if I had micarta or some wood scales, who knows.

The 11 is fine...but I think you'd have been better off with the 24 for starters
