Trying to decide on a knife choice.

What are you looking for, specifically? What do you see in that knife that you would like to see in other knives? Is the glass punch a requirement for you? A particular thickness of handle? Any particular lengths? Blade geometry? Does your college and state allow carrying of fixed blades? Do you have a price limit?

It's hard for us to extrapolate from one example what exactly you are looking for.

I think you have made a excellent choice. This is a very nice knife for the money. It has a AUS 8 blade which is almost as good as CM-154 or ATS-34.

My guess the reason it is so affordable is it is produced in Taiwan if it was US made the price would be almost double. The only draw back to me is the black blade they will show ware. Another good affordable Benchmade is http://www.bladehq.com/item--Benchmade-Pardue-Mini--706 it is only $33 on bladehq.

Where you going to school?

Um lets see now the blade thickness and what have you isn't that important the glass breaker is important. I want a smaller more convenient one just for EDC length preferably would be under 3 inches. My college's knife policy is kinda of a gray area however having talked to the campus police about they said a manual folder under 4 inches would be acceptable to them.

Before getting my Caly III, I usually carried a HK Ally around campus. It's a nice little knife for EDCing, though it does have a bit of a menacing, tactical look if you have concerns about sheeple. It sharpens up nicely, and the serrations cut very aggressively.

All in all, I recommend it

If you want value, a small profile and premium steel (S30V), why not just go for a Spyderco Native at Wallmart?

Nice looking knife...

A word of caution though, most college campuses (it's a state law here in CA) have statutes against carrying any sort of knife on campus grounds. With the atmosphere following incidents like Columbine/Virginia Tech the administration might not smile too kindly on "tactical" looking knives that are anything more than a SAK.

My advice would be to carry a SAK on campus (although I do occasionally break that rule myself... haha)
