Here's some quick iPhone photos - delivery was delayed due to the ice and snow earlier this week:

No issues with regard to fit & finish - the blade, as you can see, well centered, and the grind is even.

This knife is freaking huge! It's probably a bit bigger than what I want to EDC. Still trying to figure out if I want to keep it, or if this one is on the "catch & release" program. Very nice knife though - just might not be for me. I'm carrying it today, and so far I'm pleased at how it carries. But wow...it's big.

Very nice! I didn;t know that knife was so big. You can;t really tell from the photos.

What I really like about that is that it appears you can set the clip up for tip-up OR tip-down carry. That's rare on the Axis models. (I like mine tip-down)

I have an older 440C TSEK and although it is one of my favourite Benchmades of all time, I find it a little too big for day to day carry.

As an aside, I really don't like the way Benchmade are putting edges on their knives nowadays. The edge bevel is much too short and steep.

..and it looks like they finish the edges of the pocket clip by rubbing it on the road.

I don't know what it is, but I like the looks of my old 440C TSEK better. The LE just LOOKS cheap to me. Personally, for the price, I'd throw it back. You could do better, in my opinion.

If you do plan to "release" it, I'd suggest waiting until they're all sold out so that you can actually get some value from the "limited" feature:thumbup:.

It's an awesome knife. I like large folders and this fits the bill. It's very similar to the Military in size.

The only problems I have had with large knives is weight or public usage. The TSEK is a bit heavy for me and I have no doubt it would bother regular people so I dont plan to edc it. It is a really nice design though and would work well with gloves.

Since it is limited edition and I'm assuming you are not in dire need of cash, just hold on to it for a while. Unless space is at a premium for you, it won't hurt if it sits in the closet for a little while.

I agree with all of your points, but I noticed that the 805 blade is thinner at the edge shoulder than the typical Benchmade grind. It's not just the acuteness of the edge angle that affects edge performance, but also the shoulder-to-shoulder thickness of the edge.

I reprofile all my user Benchmades to 30 degrees, and I usually end up with a fairly wide edge bevel. But on the 805, the bevel didn't get much wider. Compared to the Military, the 805's blade profile is a little less acute, but the actual edge thickness is thinner. Couple this profile with the M390 steel, and the 805 is an exceptional cutter.

You nailed it. The thin edge on the 805 leads to very little time putting your own, more acute edge on it. Mine measured .014"-.015" at the top of the bevel, way thinner than my Millies. Pair that with M390 and you have quite a cutting tool.

I have noticed that too. In recent months it seem that Benchmade taper the primary bevel down to a thin stock and then chuck a short, steep secondary bevel on.

I have also found out that it doesn't take long to reprofile to something that performs much better.

I missed out on the previous varients, but I could not pass this one up. Well worth the wait IMO. The F&F out of the box was a little off (very uncentered blade & loose pocket clip). A couple quick turns of a torx driver centered the blade and reattached the clip. Very nice blade indeed.

If you can't decide, I'd say keep it. You might regret letting it go but I doubt you'll regret keeping it.

I'm of the belief that if you're trying to figure out if you like anything, than you probably don't like it.

I absolutely love this knife, but like you, I don't really have a place to use it as much. Even for my work, it's a little large. I'm at the point where all I do is look and play with the knife, but don't really carry it. I'm wondering if I should keep it as a safe queen, or trade it for something more applicable.

Nevertheless, I do love looking at it and feeling the G10 scales.
