Trying to find a new folder - with specific grip & steel

After using an Al Mar sere 2000 for a while, I'v decided to seek out something else. I've been looking for a bit on knifeworks.com, but not finding anything to my liking. The one thing I want in a folder is a slighly better grip, something like the Heckler & Koch fixed knife seen below.

Now, I know folders are a bit restricted on a grip, but I'm trying to find one with at least a decent groove for the index finger as seen in the pic above. The previous knife before that, a Benchmade stryker, was made in M2 steel which I do not see in many knives anymore. Bit surprising, I thought the steel held a great edge, and held it rather long too.

Anyone have any ideas or seen any new knives recently that have such a desired grip with a reliable steel material made blade as well? (Meaning no 420 440 or Aus 8 - didn't find any of them particularly great) Also prefer plain blades, no combos.

Thanks for any help.

Hmm, it's not a plain blade, but I kinda do like that knife. Good steel, great grip, pretty much what I was looking for. I like it a lot but... $212!

Bit pricey.

Check out the BM 425 Gravitator. The Snody-designed folder has large finger grooves. It's also got beefy thick liners and a solid titanium liner-lock.

The 426 has the same handle, but with a spear point instead of as a wharnie.

Also, the BMHK34 has a similar design (with an index finger groove); and is (if I am not mistaken) another Snody design.

Editted to add - I posted a review on the 425 Grav here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=393285

I should update that thread. I see that Cliff asked me a question that went unanswered.

I like a lot about that knife, save the lack of a decent index finger groove. Nice review though. :)

X2 on the Manix! It's a big, heavy knife, but it is definately very secure in the hand and you have the option of choking up on the choil for finer work.

The Camillus is decent, but that Rukus at that price is really hard to beat. I'm assuming that jaggers whole sale is a decent site since you linked it (reliable shipping and service). Hmm, I can't remember the last knife I owned that didn't have a black blade. I should go look for a review on the Rukus and see what the feedback on them are.

korbiaka - It wasn't a bad knife, but the tip on it broke off a bit after a few months when I stuck it in a piece of oak wood. Not something I expected to see happen, and was a bit let down.

oh, no, it was just the cheapest one I found in a froogle search. never done business with them, sorry

Well, we all have our preferences. The Manix works great for me, but I'm not sure if it's what you're looking for or not. It'd certainly be worth getting used to, though.

You might consider the Strider Smf, Sng, or PS style knives. They have a double choil profile that allows a good grip and close detail work. Buck offers them in ATS-34 with G10 scales if price is an issue.
