Trying to find some history on my grandfather's buck 501 with turkey etching.

I know that new users aren't supposed to post threads trying to find the price of knives, and that's not what this thread is. I have no intention of selling this knife. My issue is the following: I am very computer educated and very good at finding info on the internet. However, I cannot find a single picture on the internet of this exact same knife. This leads me to think that it was custom made, but I don't know enough about knives to find some more history on it. The only sort of actual "lead" i have is that in the Blade's Guide to Knives, there's one listed as "Aurum Turkey 8B". I found this at the following link: http://books.google.com/books?id=E6...Q6AEwAA#v=onepage&q="aurum turkey 8b"&f=false but this may not actually be the same one. However, when i google search "Aurum Turkey 8B" in quotations, this book is the only result i can find referencing this knife. Here is a picture of the blade and some more pictures in an album. It seems that the knife was actually used by my granddad for quite some time, because it looks like the blade had been sharpened enough to where part of the etching was beginning to be sharpened off near the tip. I have seen this etch in the past. Likely, a turkey hunter favorite. Someone who is knowledgeable about the aurum etchings will eventually be along.

Have you searched the Buck forum for threads about Aurum etches, I remember, off hand, several.

There were at least seven game scenes done on the 501 by Aurum for Buck. 09B Mpuntain Goats, 08B Turkey, 10B Mallard Ducklings, 11B Squirrels, 12B Goshwak, 13B Raccoon with scroll, 14B Ruffed Grouse. Good luck finding them. There were several variations of the one you have, Hope this sheds a little light on the subject.

SHAZAM hit the nail right on the head, it was made in 1978.
