trying to get an edge

i'm looking for an edge for my khukuri that can be used for self defense and still hold up for daily task like clearing brush. i've never had to worry about putting my own edge on my blades but ihave to start because it's getting kind of expensive.

Thanks for the info I've been to that site many times but never noticed all things khukuri it was exactly what I've been looking for.

If it ain't a 7in fixed blade in 1095, I can't sharpen it without a contraption. If I were in your shoes I'd finally have the excuse I needed to buy an edge pro

I just sharpened one on a 1x30 belt sander. 600 grit to sharpen, then finished w/ a leather belt with white 'rouge'. It surprised me how sharp it came out... and nice convex edge. I thought it would take a while, cause I don't think it had ever been sharpened... but I was done in about 10 min.
