Hello everyone,
I'm looking for some help. Im trying to get into knife making. I'm located in the San Diego and hoping to find a knife maker in california to help me learn the trade. I would be willing to pay for classes, or do free labor, what ever it takes. If any of you could point Me in the right direction that would be fantastic.

Thanks all,
Richard

I would go to school and do a metal manufacturing trade first.

Because that's what I'm actually doing.

Your best bet would be to go to a Tech type school to Master the CnC machines. Those are key to modern knife making and a skill you can apply to many other fields. Folders are king and most are made on CnC type machines now days.

I'm in Fresno. I'd be glad to tell you what I've learned so far. Call me at 559-375-4408.

(Yes, I have put my own number online. Any of you reading this want to call and its about knives, green light.)

Take a Black Smithing class I'm sure an Art Center offers one. They'll teach you the basics. Mostly on hook making but my teacher said "that a hook uses all of the techniques and if you can make a hook you can apply that to anything else".
