Welcome to BFC, rwaters!

Your sword looks like a kampilan from the Philippines. Complete pics of the entire sword and sheath will help people identify and date it easier. Along with Mr. Levine's forum, you might also want to check out the Ethnographic Weapons forum at www.vikingsword.com.

From the photos you've shown, the sword appears to be in great condition. You may want to coat the blade with a thin layer of oil (like mineral oil), but other than that, I'd leave it alone.

Yes, definitely a Kampilan from the southern Philippines. Will make for a nice collectors piece!

Greetings rywaters!

In your photos, the sword is upside-down. ;)

The hilt of your sword looks to be in excellent condition and the blade looks to be in very good condition without any damage to the "kingfisher" tip.

Depending on whether is is an original 19th Century sword and not a modern repro, your sword may be worth anywhere from $200-400 to a collector. Understand that collectors of these swords are few, so it may not be easy to sell it.

You can also try contacting this guy, he buys and sells tribal weaponry (though he will probably offer you something in the lower range if you are selling)
