Trying to identify this knife.

I got this knife from a buddy of mine after his last deployment to Afghanistan last year. It has been sitting in my tool box since then, and I was curious what company makes it. I only see the one mark on it, and I am pretty sure its a carbon steel blade, since it was rusting at the edge. I plan on cleaning it up, re-wrapping the handle and giving it to my son. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That insignia is Ranger Knives. The knife itself may be the "Shiv" if I recall correctly? That may be a custom by Justin Gingrich who is the man behind Ranger Knives.
 
Cdk your avatar drives me a little crazy lol. What's it all about? A movie reference I'm missing? Cool knife by the way.

Thanks Crom. I will follow that lead.

EDIT: Yep, it's the Shiv. I spent the better part of the morning changing the angle on the edge for more sharpness. Time to re-wrap the handle, and maybe order a Kydex. I saw some links in the "Martialists" review.

lol! Have you ever seen the movie Smokin' Aces? This is the ADHD kid that was in it, Warren.

Def. Ranger Knives. That's an older one made by Justin Gingrich before he sold to Ontario. Very nice!

Leviathan: I'm interested when people have such specific knowledge. How did you come by it? Is it a brand you used to collect/use?

Used to be a big fan of his back in the day. Have several of his knives all of which I have been very pleased with. His current site is GTI ( Gingrich Tactical Innovations) but he only makes customs now. Anything else I can help you with let me know. Missed your question till now( hence the late reply :) .

Justin's a good guy, a real deal Army Ranger, he still makes customs, and the Ranger line is made by Ontario. Nice knives. All up to Justin's specs. The Shiv is still made. Shiv's an underappreciated knife in my opinion.

And I'll take any opportunity to show off my Rangers!
