I'm new to Busse knives, and I'm trying to learn some more about the Jackhammer, because I might trade into one pretty soon. I don't see too much posted about it..what's the general consensus? What would this be worth, with an Okuden kydex sheath?

Why have the tube fasteners been replaced with bolts??

As for value with a sheath your lookin at about 350-375

This one looks modified aftermarket .. and the unfinished steel is known to rust in some cases.. I would grab a SAR4 or Batac off the exchange - or wait for the mythical Green Linen SAR4 !!

The Jackhammer is one of Jerry's favorite knives, just something to keep in mind...

With the mod. I'd say 300.00 for the JH, without the mod 325.00, but Okuden makes the best kydex, so I agree with Dobywon, sort of, 350.00 is fair.:D

The Jackhammer is a Satin Jack Tac varient, previously only available in an expensive Les Bear pistol package.
The Competition model was released last year at Blade and is one of my favorites.
You will love it!!

I have a Custom Shop Bowie hand-ground by Jerry with a
very nice pre-production Fusion handle. It came with handle bolts like those pictured. At Blade 2008 I showed it to Jerry, and he said that the bolts were those used on test model FSH's so various grip configurations could be tested.

It also has the handle slabs rejected by the test group but which he said he personally liked best. He was at a loss as to how it got sold like that.

So, it is possible that the bolts came from the factory and that the knife pictured is unique. My advice is to buy it or trade for it if you can get a reasonalbe deal.

Well, what I'd be trading away is a basically like new DMS-1 in a LaRue SPR mount...good deal?

With an Okuden Drop Leg sheath I paid 430 for mine...... looks like I may have paid a little too much! Oh well! haha

That's about $400 value in the optic and mount used... The knife is probably worth $325, so pretty close.

This combo's been going for 375 and less on the arfcom forums recently...if you know of anyone that'll pay 400 for that combo, let me know!

Did the Jackhammer come in a coated version, ie Combat Grade? Maybe someone took the scales off it to strip it? Because those chatter marks on the choil look worse than typical for the Competition Grade, no?

The only coated Jackhammers of which I am aware were part of the Busse/Bauer Knife/1911 combo. I can't see anyone paying that kind of bucks and then stripping it.
But stranger things have happened.

It's a Competition Edge 2008 spec. ed.
maybe the previous owner changed the fasteners to bolts, simply because of the easier blade-care under the slabs. it's that simple, IMHO. ;)

I am by no means an expert but I always thought it was a Hell Razor variant.

You are correct, I am the guy who did that modification, because I could see
rust peaking out from under the scales. I also ordered the sheath directly from Brian.

The knife is for use, so I figured that the bolts would allow easer access to
remove rust if & when it would appear again.

I traded it to a guy on here for a high end folding knife, because I wanted something different & I never used the Jackhammer anyway.

hope this helps

I guess it was the the ridges that threw me off. As I said I am no expert so I am glad there are some to set me straight:)
