I'm shopping for a Vic Multitool and I'm a little lost. None of the websites I've looked at seem to make a noteable distinction between the intended uses of the various models.

I'm looking for something to help with shelter building, firestarting, camping duties. Rachet attachments are not so important to me.

Could someone please summarize for me the BASIC diferences and intended uses of the Swisstool, Spirit, Swisstool X, and Swisstool RS?

Much thanks!

Hi, Can't summarize for you, But I would highly recommend the Rucksack, it can handle all your needs out there in the woods. Works for me. The saw is awesome, plus the fact that its a locking blade, which saves your fingers. Hope that helps

If you can handle the funky blade, I'd go with the Spirit. All of them have a saw and can opener, among other useful gizmos. The spirits are a bit smaller and lighter, and the regular Spirit includes scissors. If you want a normal (pointy, non-serrated) blade, the SwissTool X is the next step up.
