Hello all.

I am trying to remove the black coating on the condor crotalus. I got some advice on this forum to not take apart the micarta handle. So then how would i go about doing this? I can't just spray coating remover on with the handle. But I know preparedmind101 removed the coating on his crotalus, theres a picture on his instagram. I really love the look without the black coating, so help please! Any advice appreciated. Also his ended up looking not so polished, can i just send it to someone to have it polished once i get the coating off? Sorry I am a pretty big knife noobie..

thank you

It looks like the scales are riveted in there.. so if you wanted to do that then you would need to drill them out. That will probably be the only way to get all the coating off w/ any type of sanding or chemical, although you could have it sandblasted and stonewashed, that would also take care of it, and you should be able to do that w/ the scales on no problem.

Thank you for the response! But will go back together in one piece, or am i gonna have to send it somewhere to get it working like its original form? I may look into finding a place around me where I can get it sandblasted, have no idea if there are knife shops around me though. But that won't damage the blade at all?

If you remove the handle? Yeah you can get it back together, but not without some work.... you will have to measure the hole diameter in the handle and then put in pins/epoxy or removable screws. Sandblasting won't damage it at all, but it will give it a different look.

Great! I think i'll send it somewhere to get sandblasted and then acid stonewashed. sounds good to me. Thank you !
