Hey so basically my girlfriends out of town of town for 2 weeks and she has this sub par knife that she's really upset stopped working (gift from sister before passing) so while i know this is a low quality knife im looking to repair it before her return. so a little backround. im a network architect and have a passing understanding of blades but excellent research skills, from what i understand i believe this to be a Italian spring assisted locking stiletto. please correct me if im mistaken. ive figured out the configuration of the blade lock and every part but this hexagon bolt. thanks all in advanced (no there was no physcial spring in the knife upon opening it if there was supposed to be one im not sure :) )

Chances are that if you manage to repair this turd (as that's what it is) your girlfriend might very well injure herself later thinking she has a good functional knife again, while in reality it is just an accident waiting to happen.
The best advice i can give you is to have this abomination nicely framed as a memento, and to buy her a quality folding knife from a reputable brand to actually use.
The fact that you want to repair the above contraption for your girlfriend tells me that you're quite fond of her, so a better functioning and safer option might be money well spent.

Hey while i appreciate the response i think you misunderstand the point, its less about function and more about familiarity and though im sure your concern comes from a good place its presumptious to assume her level of experience with handling blades but i can assure you she has many quality functioning blades. My concern is this one. So if your unable to assist regardless of quality id kindly ask you to refrain from commenting further.

Im not familiar with the knife itself but if it is (or was) spring assisted in many cases that would involve a torsion bar recessed in opposite scale of the liner lock (which appears to be in that 4th picture there. I would check in the silver side of the handle and see if there is a recess there. If there is a broken torsion bar, or at least a place where a torsion bar is supposed to be, you may be able to re-purpose a Kershaw torsion bar if they are of similar size.

Although I don't see it printed on the blade, that knife looks exactly like a Tac Force model TF-817. They are available online (in a variety of colors), and are very inexpensive. A few options might be to buy a new one and either study it, carefully disassemble it piece by piece to figure out how to reassemble your GF's, or use parts from a new knife to replace any parts that might be worn or broken in your GF's knife.

From what I see, green models are also available on Ebay. I found the knives searching for "Tac Force Cross Knife".

brilliant ideal and yea that looks identical im going to order one at least for the parts, thanks for the name and the idea K killgar and C c7m2p3 i had a look not really sure what i was looking for though.

It looks like the peg on the blade that the spring part of the liner is supposed to push on to assist in opening have become chamfered and slips "under" the spring instead of loading it.
Hard to say when there isn't a description of in what way it's not functioning as it should anymore.
Hex part, no idea, what side of the blade was it on? Did it have a washer on both sides, I can only see one in the pictures (white)?
