I want to sell one of my knives and I have no clue how.
How to receive payment?
Best way to ship?
How to come up with the best price?
Will forum members trust me being newish?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

PayPal
USPS Priority Mail
Search to see what similar knives are going for or ask for offers.
Not with Snake on your screen name. ;)

I would read the stickies at the top of the exchange for individual knife sales

I wouldn't trust you, then again I don't trust anybody on the internet :D

But seriously, if you get your post count up then you'll have an easier time selling.

When I deal with someone with less than 5 positive feeedback scores, I typically require that they ship/pay first. Once I receive the item/payment (and the check clears if it's a personal check), then I send my payment/item. I had to do the same thing for my first 4 or 5 deals to establish that I'm legit, so I have no problem requiring the same of others. Of course, you too should always check the feedback of anyone you are considering dealing with before you strike a deal.

But to your specific Q's:
Paypal or, if you don't do Paypal, USPS Money Order is a popular option.
Ship USPS Priority (with tracking, and insurance if the item is over $50).
A little research will clue you in to what other similar knives are selling for (check new and used prices).
Trust is earned... make sure you go out of your way to ensure your buyers are pleased (i.e. you need good/fast communication, fast shipping, and item should be better than described).

Btw, you also need to have a paid subscription to post sales threads here.

Best of luck....

How to receive payment?
If selling, I would take PayPal, postal service money order, or personal check. If someone wrote me a check I might wait for it to clear before shipping, depending on the $$ amount and buyer's reputation.

Best way to ship?
US Postal Service. Make sure it's packaged well in a sturdy box.

How to come up with the best price?
Search the forum and eBay to see what similar knives generally sell for. Condition is a primary factor, as is rarity, brand, age, and whether the sale includes the original packaging and documentation.

Will forum members trust me being newish?
Depends. Do you have a good rating on eBay? How valuable is the knife? Would you be willing to ship the knife first if the buyer was an established and respected member here?

Something you didn't ask about but is very important, pictures. Good pictures that show the overall knife and the condition (wear/use/damage).
Pictures sell knives.

Wow! Thank you very much.
Great info.
BTW, I just changed my user name to something less sketchy. Although Snakefinger was a great musician, as a user name it seem less than trust worthy. I changed it to the name of my deli. Mikey's Deli.
